Just do a passthrough from the LaserDisc like I did to get rid of the watermark. The TV capture is miles better as a source in terms of clarity, despite the minor issues. And you did the last upscale with one of the traditional models, so it should look better with Starlight? I don't know, it's up to you...

A combination of the laser disc and the German TV version won't work.

1. The colors are too different.

2. Both versions have different cuts.

As I said, it was just a first short test. Anyway, it will take about a week. Starlight is very slow. I needed more than one hour for this short clip.

Ah, fair enough then!

Tried something out myself. Side by side:

Clip: [Code] Tried to give it more of that orange look from the BD, but there are some issues with red bleeding and skin tones. I find that the grain addition can also improve the waxy look from enhancement and conceal glitches/imperfections. Interested to see what style you end up going for...

Looks quite good. This is definitely the direction it should go.

The main thing atm is the upscaling. I splitted the movie into parts of 10 minutes. Otherwise it probably will run a whole week and if my computer should crash, all the work would be gone.

I think an alternative is to export as an image sequence, but I suppose that'd take up more storage.

Well, I couldn't resist and I was working on a new version for the last two weeks.

The source was this lousy rip from the laser disc, upscaled with AI to 1428 x 1080p and with completely new colors.
I took the audio from the US blu-ray and from the German dvd and had to make many cuts to get it in sync.

A mega big THANK YOU! goes to Kingfisher for these beautiful colors. You are a magician!

Kingfisher managed a feat by introducing technical resources to impress and enthuse ghost! I wondered why ghost was so quiet lately. The thought of the audio editing from different sources on top of it really shows what a huge project this was.

The "colorized" made me blink. Now I am imagining an alternate version like "Logan" Noir or "Furiosa" Tinted Black-and-Chrome. That may not interest ghost but he has claimed before that "this one" is his LAST version of "Pretty Baby."

I can not imagine what he will do in the 2029 version. 3D?
