Easiest way to get media info a file is to open https://mediaarea.net/MediaInfoOnline in your browser and then drag the video into the box. No software required and the video isn't ever uploaded. Everything is done locally.Moonee wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 4:06 amI've been meaning to ask, how do you get the information like this on a video file?
Like, do you use a tool or is there some other way to get this info

Yeah, what DreamScape said.
I still use MediaInfo "offline", the actual tiny program. I am a grump who hates my software online. Installed, it is accessible from my Windows right-click menu on any video. I do quite a bit of video comparisons, remuxing, and processing on my desktop, not in my browser. But just for sharing the file information in an online forum it makes perfect sense to use the online version. You just copy and paste from one tab to the next.
Old offline version: https://mediaarea.net/en/MediaInfo/Download
The same information can be had in some media players, such as MPC-BE > File > Properties > MediaInfo.

Aha! I know something like yt-dlp will ffmpeg them together, for sites it works on. I need to find a browser plugin that will allow me to download the separate parts if that is the only way to get the higher resolution. The 9xbuddy.com site used to do that, but I got away from using it because it failed on so many sites.DreamScape wrote: Mon Sep 15, 2025 2:45 am Ah, yes. The browser plugins can't mux together separate video and audio tracks, which is sometimes how platforms stream higher resolutions.
Thanks, mostly I try different options and if one fails I never know exactly why.
