I guess that TV release is the second episode only? Or a mix/recut of 2 episodes? Or IMDB is wrong?

I do not remember how much it was discussed in the previous many posts, but what we have available online is actually the 90-minute PART 2 of a total 3-hour TV movie. I suspect it was preserved by fans because this half has more interesting scenes. Part 1 is nowhere to be found by anyone anywhere! Now that I have watched part 2 with subtitles and actually understand what is going on, it is so very apparent that this jumps right in the middle of a story. When I watched it before I had no clue!

I scrolled quickly through the entire thread to find this old post of mine. My speed reading may have been incomplete, but I believe I saw one brief mention (in French) before my post of this being only one part of the movie and after mine I did not see any comments on the issue until yours. I am glad there is someone else who actually cares about story completeness.

Laura's DOB is Nov 30, 1981. The two parts of this premiered on French TV January 20th and 27th, 1997. Two months after her 15th birthday. SC claims she was 13. That's not impossible, if they filmed in 1995, but TV is different from cinema and delays that long between filming and release are very uncommon. IMDb doesn't give exact shooting dates. It just says 1996, and they're probably right about that.

There aren't any behind the scenes articles I can find or any interviews that mention Le Surdoué. Laura walked away from acting in 2004 and became a journalist.

I continue to be impressed by how quickly you can turn up interviews and other such sources.

Found that November 30th, 1981 date some time back, I don't remember and can't locate the site I originally got it from. Possibly it doesn't exist anymore. Privacy laws in the EU have in the past few years caused a lot of birth dates and other personal info you used to be able to find to simply ... vanish. Since I can't confirm that date with any reliable sources I'll have to treat it as suspect.

I can't access the paywalled interview. Even the Wayback Machine doesn't give you a full version. Assuming the interviewers in both of those two articles were correct in saying she was 18 at the time, her birthday would have to fall sometime between January 10th and May 10th. This puts her in the late 13/early 14 range for Le surdoué assuming 1996 filming dates. Based on the outdoor shots, the lush green foliage, the way people are dressed (for spring rather than summer) I'm thinking late April or May.

So, still not conclusive. Laura might've been 13 when filming first started. More likely she was already (barely) 14.

Based on other movies like Ce que savait Maisie from 1993 it is possible that she was 10 years old although the story says she is 12 I see it as unlikely due to her physique she would be between 10-11 years old maybe 9, let's go to Le manage de pauline from 1991 many would think she would be 10 years old but in reality she would be 8 it would be very appropriate Laura was born in 1982 and lastly in Le surdoué I would put her 13 years old she still looked very prepubescent maybe it was filmed months before her 14th birthday
