The Tank (2023)

Synopsis:
IMDb wrote:Ben, his wife Jules are in for a surprise when they inherit an abandoned coastal property that Ben's recently deceased mother never told them about. They, along with their young daughter Reia, make the move to their new home.

Untouched for 40 years the house looms like an eerie relic over land which includes a stunning private cove and beach. The beauty and tranquility of the place leave the family with the nagging question: why was this property kept a secret for so long? While Jules rummages through the house looking for answers, Ben goes to repair the buried water tank, not knowing that in doing so he is unleashing a long-dormant creature, fiercely protective of its environment.
Child of interest is Zara Nausbaum..

She has pretty good screen time [roughly 60%], and she's pretty convincingly scared during the ..'in-Peril' scenes.

I've seen many references to this film as a 'Creature Feature', so you can safely say it's a 'child-in-peril' movie.

"Mummy; something's trying to get in.."

The beginning of when mom starts to realize this 'creepy' old place might be dangerous, too..

Fun, creepy romp. Well worth a watch.

I wondered about that too, especially when you find out there is the disappearance of a young girl in the film's pe-history.. :think

But no; this is definitely a 'Monster Movie' AKA 'Creature Feature'. There are several instances where [as a viewer] you have to put aside 'logical thinking' and grab a big handfull of popcorn and just enjoy the movie for what it is. Years ago this would have been considered a perfect drive-in movie.. ;)
Spoiler:

(And actually 'the [water] Tank' turns out to be a [mostly] man-made, HUGE underground cavern...)

Many thanks for the ed2k links, ghost! This be's an offical [REL], now. :heart

Horror film directors or film directors in general do not like killing off children and this movie is one of them

I watched this a few years back, this was a decent film for what it's worth

I've seen far too many films where a child is in peril but in the end, they survive.. I have yet to find a horror movie where a child dies onscreen (from a monster, creature, human or the like)

Pan's Labyrinth? The Host (2006)? "Beware! Children At Play"? A Serbian Film? (DO NOT watch that one.)

Honestly I think that directors and writers would love to kill more children. It is the producers and studios that question how far they are willing to go. But since you did say "in general" I have to admit that is true.

 Yes, certainly not for the faint-hearted.

I remember Funny Games ( https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0119167/).
I was really shocked when they killed/shot the couple's son in the movie.
