Thank you! It will be interesting to compare this to citronleaf's rutracker version.

This torrent is called WEB-DL. But this film wasn't available for streaming in HD until now.
DEFA Filmwelt released in on YT today.

Maybe the torrent is an AI upscaled version (possibly mine) and it was just named incorrectly?

Was the YouTube link the actual DEFA premiere, or did they sneak it out somewhere else before? I suppose I could email DEFA and ask but I am not gonna. I considered the possibility that the rutracker was a re-use of your own work because that HAS happened but I confess I did not compare them. If rutracker downloaded their source from the web it is a web download, right?

I don't think there is an abbreviation for "Got it from eMule, dude".

A WEB-DL is an unedited download from a streaming service.

It's funny: I found some of my upscaled films on blizzardkid before and they also named it WEB-DL.

About the file from Youtube: This is from the official channel of DEFA Filmwelt. At least the restored DEFA films appear first on this channel.
It was the same with "Sabine Kleist". Gritta was only availabke in SD so far, e.g. on Prime Video Germany.

I heard that premium accounts can download at higher bitrates of 1080p.

No, I don't have a premium account. I downloaded it with TubeDIgger. It was the only software I have that could grab the large file with the VP9 codec.

This is weird, either yt-dlp is missing some formats, or TubeDIgger has built-in YouTube Premium account?

I don't have a Premium account so I can't confirm this. That's why I am asking.

Just the other day I was noticing your AI upscale for Jestem (2005) is on at least three trackers as a "WEB-DL"
