For the past few weeks I have avoided the slower fichier when I had other download options. Taking a fichier break seemed to briefly give me a window of faster download speeds -- but I only tried it one file.

Yeah, this has been my experience, but it is a slow process.

RAM prices have gone up 5 fold in the last 6 months. But HDD prices are only slightly higher. Maybe 40% from a few years ago. But price is about $15/TB for 8-24TB on the amazons. Look at share prices in Micron, Samsung, etc.

1fichier is owned by a French company, with data centers primarily in France and the Netherlands. I don't know if storage or RAM is equally expensive everywhere or much cheaper beyond the reach of Orange Hitler's tariffs here in the US. But I suspect 1fichier may backpedal on its speed throttling if too many people jump ship. That's always the trick when you're a company. How cheap can I get, how much can I gouge my customers or harass them to get premium without losing them to other hosts? Where's the peak of the profit curve before it starts going back down? You aim for that sweet spot if you can.

One fish yay has always been the most reliant host that has ever been a pain in the ass. Everyone has a love/hate relationship with them.

Fuck them. But no I love them. I love you, I hate you, I love you, I hate you.

They're kinda awesome even though I prefer pixeldrain but holy shit as a laymen I can say it's been around for some time while others get knocked off. When have they not "gone cheap", or circumvented shit in some evil scheme to ruin your fun?

They're a service who's there to make money, by making you really happy. And you don't fucking pay anything and that's fucking awesome! :D

Memory prices skyrocketed everywhere and gonna get even worse in the future. It's not a tariff thing. Memory manufacturers can sold their products for AI datacenters for a much higher price and regular consumers are at the end of the line. Right now you can get RAM, SSD for a much higher price than a year ago. When the existing stocks are gone there will be a real gut punch because some people won't get these products even when they have the money.

Maybe someone from 1fichier could chime in, and then I wouldn't even believe them because it's some text on a screen.
