ipfilters for emule 47c

Post by rmt@36 »   0 likes

Hi All

I was looking at my emule and I noticed I do not have any ipfilters in the security section.

Is there any specific filters I should load up.

I just want to make sure my computer and emule experience is safe.

Thanks in advance for any help

You can use this in the security section of emule:

http://emulepawcio.sourceforge.net/nieu ... filter.zip

Update every few days.

or use good old peer guardian.

It has always blocked bad servers for me on eMule, plus it sorts out WinMX at the same time.

PeerGuardian is an ipfiltering app that protects your entire computer. The ipfilter in eMule only protects eMule traffic.

So, if eMule is the only p2p app you use, just update your ipfilter. However, if you use several p2p apps and/or play online multiplayer games, install PeerGuardian and disable the ipfilter in eMule.

looks like PG is screwed; it simply wont connect to anything to update.
Adding blocklists (pretending like I actualy no what im talking about) fails too.

So for the first time im adding a blocklist :think to eMule.
Ill just have to live winth WinMX being unprotected.
You can use this in the security section of emule:

I tried adding that actual link into the bit on eMule that says "update from URL".
It failed.

Can someone please explain to me in simple english how I am supposed to add a block list to emule.

Thanks

Before I told you about it in the other thread I did check it worked with standard eMule to make sure it wasn't a feature of the mod I use, so I don't know what the problem is. Sounds like you are doing it right. Only obvious thing I can think of is that if you right-click copy the actual link from here, you need to get rid of the http://anonym.to/? part at the beginning, using only the part that shows up in the message.

Aha, thanks that worked :)

Do I need to change any other settings, like filter level 127?

How do I know the blocks are working, can I see what is being blocked the same as how PG use to ?

Oh one other thing, by copying yours or ghosts link into eMule, will it be the latest lists each time or do I need to find different links?
