Hi, is FLM dying?
Re: Hi, is FLM dying?
I will be releasing some good films. I'm sorry you are having to wait but I need my PC for my work right now so it limits what I can do.
Re: Hi, is FLM dying?
I am a relative newbie here (8 months), but I'd have to say "No, it's not dying". I have lots of ongoing time pressures which keep me from completing the several releases which I have been working on. At least I feel good I have been able to release a few, reseed a few, and answer several requests with what I already had. But my "investigate" list has been growing relentlessly longer.
I personally struggle with the fact FLM is of two often opposite minds: one side wants mainly special scenes, the other mostly wants good movies. I am not saying this is bad, in fact I think FLM would be the poorer without both types, but when I discover something I feel compelled to properly review and classify it so that people who won't care don't waste time DLing it. That takes time, and sometimes I have held back a candidate for posting since it might not completely satisfy either camp. Occasionally I think the conflicting viewpoints have affected others also. I think I personally need to worry less about that sort of thing.
I do believe that comparing the posting pace today to the pace early in FLM's life is pointless: any time you start a list of good movies (of any type) you can spend a lot of time listing stuff that is already well known. But when the "low hanging fruit" is gone the effort to find new worthwhile stuff from the past takes time and generates a lot of false leads. Many fewer movies with "special" scenes are being made today so the main source of new releases is still the past, and gems are harder to find.
But there is still a reservoir of good stuff out there for us to tap, I think. New blood always helps. We are in a position where we want to maintain a reasonably low profile due to the nature of what we post, yet any website always needs new people. (At any site it's inevitable that valuable contributors sometimes wane, Kev and Terry are clear recent examples here which have contributed to the doldrums.)
I became aware of FLM a long time ago but never bothered to register, it took Debaser "recruiting" me after meeting me on WinMX to get me to sign up. I encourage people to be on the lookout for other like-minded people, and I think such efforts could make a big difference.
