Looping banner

Post by billanben »   0 likes

OK this is driving me nuts - every time you open a new page you have to newly stop this from newly playing and looping. I don't mind it being there, but I had a Shockwave fatal error when trying to set this to not play tonight. I know I can suppress it using popup software and the like, what I would like is for it NOT to play by default - you can have a button saying "drive me round the twist with something akin to Chinese water torture by pressing this button - only if you have agood psychologist", but please, I beg of you admins, stop the playing and looping.

thanks
Debaser

Use Firefox and get the Flashblock addon. This disables all flash stuff, replacing each item with a 'Play' arrow that you have to click to play the content. Great, especially for low bandwidth guys like me.

While you're at it, get the Adblock addon as well.

Oh joy - it requires Javascript to work so that is out of the question. Please stop it playing !!

:(

Try pasting the addy of the flash item in Adblock.

eg. open Adblock preferences, click 'add filter' then paste http://mitglied.lycos.de/shooters/flm/covers.swf in the box and click apply.

Done it EM and my life is quiet again :-)

Used this Greasemonkey extension - the only one I found which does not require JS (and is therefore more secure). Checked code and looks fine to me (there are cookie stealers around right now).

Thanks for putting me on the right track.
