valticp: you don't have to post a release; just keep your eyes open and if you come across something interesting, share it with the rest of us. :)

There are hacks available that will kill every lurker or zero poster in a single keystroke. Unfortunately, the site is not being advertised on many other sites. Therefore, you run the risk of wiping out any future potential posters. Of course, once a lurker is deleted they can always register again, then you are still faced with how the forum appears on the surface. 3000 members clearly looks more desirable to new registrants than 300.

I must say however, the idea behind this site is very exciting. A culmination of artistry and entertainment. You would practically need to invent a higher form of entertainment to go beyond what has already been published and placed in plain view of others. Sadly, we are in such extreme times, our best action is inaction, acting as preservers of this rare and delicate art. Therefore one could hardly expect anything exciting or new of its idle members.

I don't think nuking lurkers is a good idea. Almost everyone starts off in a new forum by lurking, getting to know the feel of the place. In fact, I am a bit concerned when people who have just joined start posting all over the place; most of the time they have nothing worthwhile to say.

IMO nuking should be reserved for spammers and those who deliberately choose to ignore our rules.

I am also not a stats driven person; 300 or 3000, makes no difference. My criteria are different.
1. Do I like the content? I do.
2. Do I like the people here? I do. Mostly polite people, very little flaming; even the occasional rants ( in which I too have participated :) ) are general and not directed at any particular person.
3. Good site administration? Yes.

Bottom line: my kind of place. :)

New members would have even more to say if they felt the support of elder members. I've seen it before... Long standing members comfortable in smaller controlled groups, not to comfortable with the idea of expansion.

What is it they need to say?
The board works fine as it is: We have thousands of non-speaking members acting as sources, and the rest of us are making the releases and acting as sources.

Job done :)

Well, friendly participation for one. Discussion pages such as this page are where friendships are made. Helps get the juices flowing; inspires a little friendly completion. The best boards have all the best flamers. It can be very constructive, and fun. Unfortunately, I don't have much to offer by way of interesting or controversial issue regarding rare films. However, one could possibly fill an entire sections on all the scandals or legalities of these films.

Just an example. But man I gotta tell you... I have seen real genius fill similar pages. Guess it all depends on what you're looking for. But engaging others in random discussions may help to increase posting, and thereby increase the search for more sources.

I love friendly chat, and im pretty sure we don’t try and put people off chatting.

One of the problems is that more often than not, discussions become very controversial if you know what i mean, and that’s when we ask such discussions to be taken elsewhere.

I am sure that plenty of members have much to talk about, but know they cant discuss what they want to here, and so remain silent.
I am sure there is plenty of chatter going on in pm's.
