eMule Mods - Direct Download Sites? - ALSO New Ports??

Anyone know some download sites for emule mods? After several computer crashes I find myself downloading the latest version of emule from emule-project.net and downloading my preferred mod through it .... besides is emule open source? I guess the newest versions of emule are checked for anything dodgy.... so I ask noob questions any feedback appreciated btw anyone noticed the different ports used by latest version of emule??? old emule used 4662 (TCP) and 4672 (UDP) but newest emule connect ports 13159 and 4332, or something similarly obscure, anything to worry about??

The official eMule website forums have subfora for some mods, but you must be registered and logged in to their forums to see them. I prefer Morph, but the latest version bans (as a leecher mod) the mod (Applejuice) which I have seen ghost using in the past, so I had to modify the exe and can no longer recommend it without reservation.

The newest eMule ports are random, because some ISPs were limiting bandwidth based on the port setting. There's a checkbox option to randomly pick ports every time you start up, which you should probably leave unchecked unless you are certain eMule can properly poke the required holes in the firewall (uPnP and/or Windows firewall).

I concur with FLL's opinion on the applejuice MOD. I had to talk the admins of the client I use (eMule Plus) to hold off banning that MOD, but sooner or later it will bite the dust.

I hope ghost moves to another MOD soon. The closest non-leecher match to the applejuice MOD is the Xtreme MOD. ghost: I don't think you'll miss much if you make the switch.

Bemused - I can find most of what I am looking for, download at fab rates and have no issues at all with current emule client (standard), so why would I want to ove to an unknown client - what advantages ?

The Morph mod allows priority (friend slots) to unlimited numbers of friends (e.g. you and most people at FLM). It also has "Powershare" which can give priority to a specific file. One nice feature is that since it's a mod there are lots more items in the Options dialog you can adjust, but it's easier since all option dialog items have popup balloons which describe the setting. Lots more but I don't feel like cataloging it.

I occasionally have used the standard client and I feel blind... I have much much less information about who is uploading and downloading from me. I also have much less control. But I am very definitely "techie" and want to know and control the details of most software I use, if you aren't like that maybe the official client is good enough.

I too feel 'blind' when using any client other than eMule Plus. IMO this one has the best GUI by far.
