Emule mod for releasers?

Post by terry666 »   0 likes

I like ripping stuff and sharing it out - it's gratifying to post something others enjoy; and I hope to encourage others to do likewise. I think we need more TV rippers from various countries.

However, the only way I can truly dedicate my entire upload bandwidth to sharing and getting my files sourced quickly, is to move all my downloads temporarily. Is there an emule mod that would allow me to only share complete files, and not the partial ones I'm downloading?

I feel that as long as my UL is always maxed, I'm giving back my fair share to the emule community. I'm also a download junkie, and it sure does suck to turn it off.

If no mod exists, could I have 2 emule programs running? 1 for UL, 1 for DL?

Hi Terry..

I use a very old LSD omicron emulemod for releasepurposes... It allows communitysharing, multiple Friendslots at the same time and you can limit the number of uploadslots. I have limited it to 5 slots sharing 74 kb/s.

Weird this question should crop up now! I installed the MorphXT mod last night to help with my upload management. Since then I've discovered the additional friend slots & powershare facility but still feel I have too many uploads running (at present 12). I seem to be able to achieve total upload speed of around 48kb/s which I feel is a bit low considering I regularly download in excess of 100kb/s & quite often peak at over 200kb/s. A quick basic lesson from someone familiar with this mod would be much appreciated.
BTW, what is FunnyNick?

Cheers!

Yes, you can run two or more clients at the same time. Just do the math and divide your bandwidth properly between them. Especially the total upload speed for both clients - should add up to about 80% of the connection upload speed.

Do not run both clients with the same userhash or ports. A clean install (into an empty folder) will always give you a new, unique userhash and assign you ports randomly. If you have a router, you'll have to forward the new ports also just like you did for the old ones.

Just for releasing purposes, eMule Plus has a nice feature - JumpStart - that you set just like file priority in shared files list. This restricts the upload of parts that have already been uploaded once so that you don't find yourself uploading the same part to several downloaders. Eg. if you have uploaded chunk 5 to a client, you will block that chunk so that other people will get it from the client to whom you uploaded it. In the meantime, you will be uploading new parts.

This does mean that the file looks incomplete to others. However, if it is released by you on this site, we know you have the whole file. :)

Thank you very much for your responses. However, when I posted this question last night, I forgot the reason I didn't install a mod last time - my stats. I know they're meaningless to the outside world, but cool to me. (I've almost reached 5 TB of dl's with a ratio of 1:1.21.)

If I install a mod, the counter will be reset. If I use two installs of emule I'll mess up my stats.

The way I'm sourcing now, is not so bad if a rip is popular. What I plan on doing from now on though, is to post my release first, then wait until there is enough requests for it, before dedicating emule to sharing it.

You might not get my rips as fast, but I know people here have patience.

I am using the Applejuice Mod (i know some paranoid people here are still suspicios about it :wall ).

It has all features of the Xtreme-Mod like PowerRelease. Also you can define the upload speed for each slot (increase it to 20 kb/s for each slot and your file wil spread faster!)

I am using it for releasing and it works great without a breakdown in downloading.

With good reason. :P It shows itself as having the same username and client software as the client it is connected to.

Eg. I see them as emuler with client Plus v1.2d. I am emuler. :P

I talked ghost out of showing me my own nick, but his client still reports his client software to be Plus v1.2d to me. To every user it will report whatever client that user is having.

applejuice isn't the only MOD that does this. Right now I have 3 users queued up pretending to be me. :wall. All from Israel. :P

The mods I hate are the ones that msg me to tell me how great they are. Emule is in bad need of a "Only accept messages from friends" option.

Don't you have a message filtering option? Just add keywords like hypermule, ultra, pro etc. to the list.

Don’t feel too guilty about that.

Iv downloaded on eMule at 250kb's, and regularly at 70kb's, and yet I only upload at 20kb's max!
11kb's upload between 1800 and midnight, thats when im throttled.

I thank my ISP for that one.
