IE7 delay

Post by Debaser »   0 likes

Anyone come across this problem?......

When I try and close the IE browser, I get a very annoying 7 or so second delay before it actually closes.
I hit the X, then the page turns white for that 7+ seconds before it closes.

If I have more than one page open, the other pages close instantly , but its the last page open that always has the delay.

I always run spybot and I have also run ccleaner, but they have made no difference.

Thanks

No, it never happens to me.

Do you have some addons installed? Maybe they need to time to shut sown. No idea..

BTW: You should try IE7Pro. Very useful.

See in tools> internet options> advanced whether this is checked: 'empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed'.

I have no addons installed.

I tried the "empty temp internet files when browser closed" feature, and having that turned on or off made no difference :think

Does it happen if you open IE then close it after a couple of minutes, or only after you have been browsing for a while?

It doesn’t matter if the window has been open for 1 second or 1 hour, the delay is the same.

Like I mentioned before though; all other browser windows close instantly, just as long as one is left open all the time.

During the freeze/delay is there hard disk activity as seen by the HDD LED? Could be the swap file reorganizing itself. How much RAM do you have?

What is the CPU usage during this time? Bring up task manager (ctrl+alt+del) and look under the performance tab to see CPU usage, and the processes tab to see which app is hogging the CPU.
