AVI chunk viewer

Post by abel »   0 likes

When I just put a mouse on some .avi file in my PC, all of sudden appears strange graph, indicated as AVI chunk viewer, it is very persistent and shows repeatedly. I know neither purpose nor use of it, and it´s pretty annoing, as long as it shows on screen I can´t do anything, just wait for disappearing. Can somebody tell me what the heck it is, what purpose it has and, possibly, how to get rid off?

I had the same problem ages ago after I installed a video splitter.
I remember because I was experimenting with different splitters at the time.

I’m sorry but I cant remember what splitter caused the problem, but maybe if you have recently installed one, that could be the reason you are having this trouble.

May also try a System Restore back before the problem occurred. Everything that was installed between those two points will be uninstalled.

Presumably you installed it as part of a codec pack. Googling "AVI chunk viewer" shows you aren't alone in wondering where it came from and how to get rid of it.

Some people say it's a program called "AVI Splitter". (How... generic!) http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Avi_Splitter.htm tells (indirectly) how to get rid of it.

http://www.click-now.net/forums/lofiver ... /t832.html tells you how to disabel it with the codec tweak tool if you got it from K-Lite codec pack.

http://forum.videohelp.com/topic322398.html expresses outrage with having to deal with it.

Well, the changes I made seem not to be the right ones, namely when playing the .avi files I have no images :think I´ll tray to reinstall K-Lite codecs pack, and then will see.
