.img format - what to do?

Post by abel »   0 likes

Recently I´ve downloaded via Azureus a torrent (Ebba och Didrik). But downloaded files are in for me unknown format .img. Have no idea how to make this "playable", this .img suggests it has to do something with image. Any clue?

Easier as one-two, just to change .img to.avi, and it plays! Just the third part, which should contain parts 7-9 contains in fact only a trailer for a DVD with those parts. But parts 1 - 6 are now on my HDD, so they´re shared.

For mounting CD images without burning them to a CD/DVD first, get Daemon Tools (free).

Well, I´ve installed Daemon Tools, but, frankly, what to do with it? When I launch it always prompts me that drive F: or another is empty, and that´s all. Is it so that it serves to see those for me mysterious .img files?

Right-click the tray icon.
At the top of the menu

Virtual CD/DVD rom >device 0 (<drive letter>, empty)> Mount image.
Now a dialog will open up where you can browse to and select the CD/DVD image that you want to mount. ISO, CUE/BIN, IMG - Daemon Tools handles them all. :thumbsup

It can do a lot more, but that is only for those who play games etc. using non original media.

Interesting, but after executing suggested actions I´ve experienced that my Daemon doesn´t recognize the .img format. Is it a question of version (Lite 4.12.3) or some bug or what?
Another PC idiot question: How can I burn such .img files to be watchable? Do I need to process them in some way? Many thanks for answering and for your time spent with it.

In the 'select image file' dialog, select file type 'All files' from the drop down list at the bottom. Then you'll be able to select the .img file. :bigups

To burn an image file, open your CD burning software and look at the menus.

Eg. in Nero Burning Rom, go through the start menu>programs>nero <version no,> data> nero burning rom.
Now cancel the 'new compilation' wizard and let the main window open.
Menu> Recorder> Burn image: a dialog box opens up where you can select the image you want to burn.

Thank you Emuler, it works, i. e. .img files are able to play, only this 3rd part can´t work as previously, may be some bug, or what. Anyway, I have started to download another torrent I found on Pirate Bay, this time it is an DVDrip in .avi format, will see how it works. Concerning burning those files I was interested if such .img files can be burned on DVD in a watchable condition, supposedly they can. Only I use Burn Aware free, and it has troubles again to recognize this format. Well, a lot to learn for me. Many thanks for your advices.
