I used this program for the Kalle clips I posted a couple of months ago, and most were Ok but I had similar problems with one clip. It might be the splitter can't find the keyframe... and because it's "Easy" it doesn't show you anything about keyframes because that would be complicated.

The video is encoded with the entire full frame called a keyframe when there is a scene change or much of the picture changes, and then the following changes have only the differences encoded. That increases compression quite a bit but makes it impossible to split without re-encoding.

So try changing the starting point of the clip, that may help. I also used another program, "MPEG Video Wizard DVD" for splitting, but that was as complicated to use as Easy Video Splitter was easy. But sometimes you need more options and control.

Yes it's free and open source, you could get VirtualDubMod also which is the same thing with modifications made by other than the original author. It splits but does a lot more, it's a key processing component of AutoGK.
Well I am finally trying v-dub, and it is actually working rather well.
So between v-dub and Easy-video-splitter, I think I will be happy :)
If you want to kill two birds with one stone for when you will eventually want to encode something, get AutoGK and VDubMod is installed in its subdirectory.
I already use AutoGK, but just didnt realise what I could do with v-dub.
I prefer encoding with DrDivX.

excuse the bump and uber late reply..

Would it be a good idea to make this post with its wealth of information sticky? For quick reference and to prevent any future new topics that might ask same questions later on. (which is likely, given its subject)

just a thought :)

ps. Boilsoft splitter is piss easy to use, had great success with it. my personal fav. (simplicity ftw)
vdub is ok but its very fussy on formats it wants to work with.

Some people might find this useful too, for a DVD/vob splitter. Maybe I have just had some bad luck with these in the past, but I have downloaded and tried so many so-called vob splitters to grab chapters from dvd's but all of them re-encode to some shitty format wasting time and quality.

I found this rare program called "Cinematize" which lets you do just that. It literally cuts out the section u tell without re-encoding so its very fast and makes lossless mpeg's ftw! It does also have the feature to re-encode to other formats.

It's fairly easy to crack if you dont wanna buy it, v2.0.0.1 is easy to crack with v2.0 keygen.

Download : http://www.miraizon.com/support/downloads.html

NOTE: this does not decrypt DVD's, you will have to do that yourself first with something like dvddecrypter.

Does anybody know another one like this thats easy to use? (perhaps a free one?)

I use vdub whenever easyvideosplitter refuses to work.
But I still occasionally come across stuff that neither will split.

Thanks for the heads-up :)
I assume it’s free, or that you have a proven cracked copy to share.
I’m sure eMule will throw me some results, but in the current climate, I don’t think ill risk it.

Does anybody have Boilsoft Video Joiner, if possible with code? I bought it several months ago, and worked perfect for me, until some bug appeared, which made it unusable. Or can somebody recommend me any other video joiner, preferably free? Thanks.
