btw. just how old is this grandmother? IMDB lists her as having acted in The Final Sanction in the role of a student, and that was in 1990, 16 years before this one.

This actress is not an easy one to find information on. IMDB is always a good place to start although clearly there is an error here somewhere.

The lead actor (Thuy Nguyen) is a Vietnamese newcomer (who was only 14 at the time of filming) and had to tackle this incredibly complex and difficult role. She reminded me of Keisha Castle-Hughes from Whale Rider but the role here is much more demanding as she has to play a child prostitute. Chances are that she will win numerous awards.

Grabbed this off TPB myself was about to post it.... ya beat me to it . I felt sorry for the girl in this movie (her character I mean).
