i agree. too much attention may be a bad thing. i too like the way it is. but discussing possibilities sometimes brings fine tuning.
only problem i have is searching so many threads to learn searching tricks, links and so on. perhaps a few more stickys containing information compiled into one thread. including how to rip and such. kinda a cheat sheet for newbies to help them contribute more. making it easier should bring more contribution. i have been doing this for a while and am still learning.

Based upon my impressions the last time I browsed that site, and seeing the traffic stats from Alexa, I suspect a good answer is "a much higher percentage of leechers".

That aside, it has only been weeks since FLM was opened up to indexing by Google etc. and non-registered browsing. Comparing traffic stats on "open" and "closed" websites is misleading.

Given the fact that overall quality will likely drop if FLM is overrun by the public (not to mention other possible problems with people objecting to our content), I am happy with the relatively small but comparatively dedicated and expert group of people we have here. I think "advertising" in compatible sites is a good thing, I have done that a bit lately on Usenet, but mass popularity is not necessarily a blessing.

You forgot to mention 100 times more posters. lol

Every site I've run ranked within the top 40,000 in two weeks.

Doesn't matter, really. You want posters, that's easy. Inasmuch as quality, accuracy of information does not always qualify as quality. A good hearted forum is quality. :thumbsup

:bigups Amadeus, I know, the places, you, we run or being staff once were high popular but it was a different time. I definitely love and enjoy this peace now. Even this place going private I would still like to be here.

Not much to add...

BTW:; I'va installed a phpnuke addon, that should delete members after a certain period of inactivity, but it doesn't work :(

To my opinion, there is enough action here. I couldn't be online for some days and i have to read about 300 new posts! :eyecrazy
