Ouch! Even that good upload speed is comparable to mine (40KB/s) and mine is just a 400kbps connection. :bigups

As an experiment, see if upload speed to a direct host (RS et.al.) also suffers. Maybe we can find a way to lick this thing.

Well my internet speed has plunged to new abysmal depths today. I have unshared absolutely everything apart from 'I Start Counting' & closed all other sharing applications. The result...........a total eMule upload speed of around 7 KB/s. Considering I'm on an uncapped up to 8mb connection this is nothing short of a fucking disgrace. :wall Although all UK ISP's throttle heavy users mine seems to be adopting a more robust policy than most. Sorry guys..... :( you'll not get any meaningful speed from me until 23.30 (GMT)

Not your fault; can't be helped. We'll live with it. :) Your content makes it worthwhile.

btw. are you getting good speed while uploading to a direct host like Rapidshare or Megaupload? Maybe that is a way out for us all. We'll download from there and reshare on eMule. :think

To help out a little I temporarily reshared about 75 of your old releases, not all are there because you've overrun my disk space with your release pace ;)

Thanks for that FLL :) As a releaser it is SO frustrating being saddled with poor upload speed. UK forums are heaving with complaints about ISP's throttling heavy users & specifically targeting p2p & torrent users. My poor speed & the time of day it occurs is exactly the same as everyone else experiences. I can't even blame distance from the exchange as the reason..........putting it crudely I can open a window & piss on the telephone exchange it's so close!
Today has been a joke & I suspect some of it is down to extra heavy usage due to the arrival of winter weather. However, I have a very rapid PC, configured correctly with the most expensive package my ISP supplies & the end result is web pages now opening more slowly than they did with dial-up & a Pentium 75. Not good enough! :naughty
I do have a cunning plan but need to experiment a little more before implementing.
Thanks for your patience guys :)

I've been away for a few days AND struggling with a poorly PC.............doubtless down to some of the less savoury corners of the internet I inhabit :) .......apologies to all. I'm up & running again on test & evaluation & will hope to release again shortly.

Cheers!

I've just made what will probably be my last release before Christmas. I'll be sharing until Tuesday morning then I'm away for about 5 days with the PC switched off. I'll be back towards the end of the month with (hopefully) a collection of new releases.
It only remains for me to wish members & especially the admin team a happy & peaceful holiday season :)

Cheers!

The loverboy [FLM] emule account is still down (in fact the PC is still down!) & likely to be so for some time.
Due entirely to my own stupidity & at vast expense I managed to obtain the Win32/Heur virus :wall
Fortunately my 'C' drive only contains the OS & programme files so after some effort in unsuccessfully trying to remove it I went for a format & clean install. All seemed fine after loading about 50% of stuff when suddenly the virus pops up again :wall This time, not only is removal impossible, the machine refuses to boot, even in safe mode. I've racked my brains to think what could have caused it the 2nd time (I know what did the 1st time!) but am at a complete loss. I scanned all other drives on a different machine & they came up clean. All I can think of is possibly contamination from Outlook Express or Firefox........virus appeared shortly after having added my existing .dbx files to Outlook Express & existing profile files to Firefox. These were backed up & saved AFTER the original infection & before the format. Any ideas?
Later on tonight I'll continue with the 2nd installation (without using old mail/internet settings)
Apologies for the disruption.

Sorry to hear that. Try looking at http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Win32-Heur-t244787.html
At the bottom of the page there are links to other instances of the same infection, too. Since you are reformatting the removal methods might not be useful but still informative.

Having had to cure an infection (of a different virus) two weeks ago on a friend's machine, I found malwarebytes to be invaluable. Seems to find and fix stuff that many others miss (the machine had running and updated antivirus which caught some of the infections but missed much of it which malwarebytes found). I don't know if it would work well on your variant though, that virus seems to be a tricky one. But you should probably use malwarebytes on your data and on your backup prior to reinstall. http://www.malwarebytes.org/

I know eradication is going to be difficult...........
I very much doubt that the updates have any virus in them but, a while ago I got the win32/huer message from AVG and i had a virus called win32/nitro. The "Huer" bit means it is an heuristic virus and AVG couldn't even find out which virus it actually was.
I installed the free avast antivirus and it turned out to be win21/vitro.

It detects running .exe files on your computer and injects malicious code into them, not just apps but critical windows files, resulting in meltdown.

I managed to save all my photos and music but everything else has been wiped !!

What a waste of time and effort, I spent 4 days trying to rid my PC of this virus before conceeding defeat and starting over !!

If you ever pick this up I would just bite the bullet and rebuild right away !!
Exactly what I'm experiencing! :wall
It popped up again, immediately when opening a trusted .exe file on another drive so back to yet another format & reinstall. It appears to spread alarmingly quickly, attaching itself to any executable file on the system it can find, including critical windows files, rendering everything useless. Interestingly, when starting in safe mode while infected another user is present on the welcome screen, complete with an image of some tosser in martial arts dress with what looks like a Russian character username! I've also had the mandatory three porn icons appear on the desktop.
At the moment I'm concentrating on backing up my critical data files & obviously movies to a couple of formatted drives before wiping everything else.
Unfortunately this means I'm going to lose all of my backed-up programmes & applications which I'll have to source again! :wall
It's going to be a long weekend............
