A Sète, de nos jours. Julien a 13 ans. Son grand-père, qui dirigeait la sardinerie familiale, vient de mourir. Ce décès n'accable pas tout le monde : le vieil homme à peine enterré, un promoteur débarque pour racheter l'entreprise familiale.
