AKA: Family Saga

Comedy/Horror directed by Martina & Olaf Ittenbach...

:eyecrazy NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART!! :naughty

I just don't know how to describe this one... Probably more up debaser's alley than most members: It's a very dark, brutal comedy told as a documentary. Virtually all the dialogue is voice over.

The children [as REAL kids ;)] don't show up until about 36 min's into the film, but once they do, it's pretty much scene after disgustingly hilarious scene of two parents that have absolutely no clue as how to raise children. Well...maybe that's an understatement: If someone were to write a book on the 150 ways to kill your children, THIS would be the movie adaptation of that book!!

Have no fear, though, the kids keep coming back for more!! And they even get into the action going after each other! No real story line here, just a collection of shocking and disgusting scenes of murder and mayhem. (As well as dirty toilets, vomit, poop-eating [A'La 'Salo'...], ect..) :thumbsup

There's also behind-the-scenes interviews tagged on at the end of the film.

This was an obvious family 'labour of love' as the entire cast [with the exception of the family psycho-logist {Der Familienberater}] consists of the Ittenbach clan! My fave, of course, being the somewhat homely, but lovable Melanie Ittenbach [11 - 14 yo]! :heart

Not my rip, but fairly well sourced. I'm sharing out also.

Good one, kev. :icon_1dancingban

Any chance of subs? The reviewer at imdb says that one needs to follow the dialogue in this more than any of Ittenbach's other films. :think

I've found 2 different DVD releases online and neither of them show that subs are available.. :(

As far as the action that occurs onscreen, there's no dialogue needed to understand what's happening: You pretty much expect every Norman-Rockwellian scene to take a dire twist, which of course they do.

I'm sure the humor and verbal irony will be better appreciated by those of us that CAN understand German, but the movie works as is.. :)
