Back among the living ... :eh

Lost my entire hard drive late Friday - unrecoverable, typical worst-case scenario. I have a small, 80gb backup I'm using right now, but I don't have much room for anything other than bare-bones essentials. I lost my "Pit Pony" eps, but I still have "Pete & Pete," "Sunes Jul" and "So Dear to My Heart" available (although, I don't have eMule re-installed yet for sharing - sorry to those still wanting those films). I can re-rip the "Pit Pony" vids eventually, but not sure when that will happen.

Hopping onto the forum is one of the first things I've managed to accomplish today, and I'm still struggling to get everything re-installed and re-configured on my system. I'm in full "triage" mode, trying to figure out what I need. Bleh. :wall

Sorry to hear that, H. Let us know if there's anything we can do to help.

Yeh sorry to hear it Hieronymous !! :wall
I've had my share of that too, last year. As a small consolation, I hope,
the FLM community helped me a LOT (through eMule) to restore my collection.

Tell us if you want anything re-shared for ya

Take care!

Back again (again), but much diminished. Been too damned depressed to even contemplate restarting my lost collection, but over the worst of it now. It wasn't a huge or comprehensive collection by any means, but it did represent hundreds of hours of searching, downloading and organizing. Seems silly to be as upset as I was at the time. Anyway ... *sigh* :wall

The films I did have backed up to disk make an odd list: Amazone; Bach et Bottine; Diabolo Menthe; I Am David; Je M'Appelle Elisabeth; Le Pere de mes Enfants; Pete & Pete, The Adventures of; Skyggen af Emma; So Dear to My Heart; Song of the South; Sunes Jul; The Damned; The Poker House; The Reflecting Skin; and, Y'aura-t-il de la Neige à Noël. (If anyone's interested in reshares of any of those titles, please let me know.) That's all that's left of more than 100 (less than 200?) individual titles, but, if I'm gonna restart, I've gotta restart somewhere.

Just got eMule back up and reconfigured, so I'm back in the game. :thumbsup

I've loaded up my download queue, so if you see me queued up - Hieronymus [FLM] - please friend me and give me a bump. Thanks! :bigups

Glad you're back up & running again. :) Depression seems the standard reaction here to equipment failure, especially when it involves the loss of material that has been fought hard for. If you're anything like me you end up sitting on the edge of your chair waiting for the next thing to fail (or even explode!) :wall

Someone from Sweden has hijacked my eMule user name.

Right now this joker is actually downloading one of the "Adventures of Pete & Pete" eps from ME. That's what I call chutzpah. What a JERK this guy is! :cussing

Is there any sort of eMule mod out there that allows you to block specific IP addys, or some way to configure eMule in options to block an IP range? Prompt help is appreciated.

- H

*addendum: Figured out the IP filter thing in options. Still, a mod of some sort would be nice ...

**edit: cut out all the personal info - got it handled now, but keep an eye out for this guy, please.

Nick-spoofing has been done to me too and I saw it the same way you did - they were downloading from me while using my nick. It's not really a "problem" because your points are tied to your hash, not your nick, but someone may be fooled into friending them (thus blocking you from being friended) and/or giving them a friend slot. It takes cojones to download from the guy you're spoofing a nick from, but they don't care - if you block them, there's always someone else they can leech from. Blocking an IP probably won't help much because they'll have a different one tomorrow. I sent a message to the guy doing it to me and he quickly dropped offline. Probably best to just let it go - there are a lot more assholes in the world than there are people.

If my memory serves me correctly the Fireball mod allows you to ban/kick a user but it isn't a permanent thing. I actually find it quite flattering that somebody wants to adopt my username.........I even messaged the last person asking if they wanted to adopt my credit card bill as well but funnily enough got no response! :)
