I think play and therefore download is restricted by country, the show is in German with a French version so maybe just those two, though maybe any country you can get arte.

Problem with proxies is unless you have a paid VPN style proxy which proxies your entire net connection, shockwave flash viewing isn't going to work, as most anonymous proxies only work with http data (webpages). There are proxies which will handle other data (socks) but they are less common and probably overloaded, I haven't tried them in years. (I might try if someone can confirm the video plays in their country...)

If anyone is able to view the video, try http://www.streamtransport.com/
Stream Transport is a simple program, no setup necessary, you just plug in the URL and it starts playing in its window and you click download and thats it, it either works or not. Stream Transport is geared towards Hulu as that's the most popular, but it works with many video sites.

Worth a quick try, but soon, the arte video is only up for 7 days (expires Monday).
