Wow!.... Very coolio!!

I think I have this on DVD somewhere... :think

It was directed by Eric Rohmer who also directed 'Pauline à la plage' [ https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... ne+++plage ], a wonderful little 'Coming-Of-Age' film that was lost in the FLM's server-transition years ago, but [RREL]'ed by ghost.

Alas, no comments on the re-posting... :think

Anyway, great find Ldieguez_; love your avatar :heart and many thanks for posting this film!! :onfire

Apparently the widescreen and fullscreen versions each show more than the other(with the fullscreen one adding more below than above). Got two copies some years back, don't remember where. This seems to be off-topic, though.

Thanks for the info, Zorijer. It appears the amount cut off/zoomed in for the widescreen version is noticeably more than the full screen. That it, there seems to be more cut out of the widescreen than the full screen.

If any of you have a chance to sit on the beach on any west coast take the time to look for the green flash, it does happen.

I've never seen one myself, relic, but thanks for clarifying what might be referenced in the title of this movie. The English title, the Green Ray, or as the phenomenon is also called, the green flash.

Not to get too distracted, but I am wondering how someone is supposed to see this, considering it is the sun you'd be looking at. Not sure if it would be worth the risk for me. Yeah, I could research it more.

You never watched a sunset?

I've stared at high noon sun, but then I live in a frequently cloudy and overcast climate and have not wandered around in the desert with Blondie and Tuco. I also now have poor eyesight...

It's really a solar eclipse that is the problem, with no visible light to tell you "ow it hurts, close yer eyes" but it still has the radiation. Or sumthin' like that.

Can this be upgraded? Kev - do you still have DVD? All these old copies were made to fit on a 700mb CD so are rubbish by today's standards. AVI (Divx/xvid) are not as good as a good h264 encode at a good resolution.

There's a review of the film here. Got 5 out of 5 stars! And a link to the trailer:
https://www.theguardian.com/film/2015/j ... ric-rohmer

this site claims it's on Prime.

Can anyone capture it?

Yidio says "The Green Ray doesn't appear to be available from any streaming services."

I don't know about aspect ratios, but there are BLU-RAY rips available and some might even be seeded:
https://therarbg.com/get-posts/keywords:tt0091830/

Physical BluRay:
Spoiler:

It was released on BluRay in an Eric Rohmer box set in the U.K.:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Eric-Roh ... ay/261258/
And France:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Coffret- ... ray/80223/
And individually, in Spain:
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/El-Rayo- ... ay/289709/

The back cover art for the U.K. and Spanish BluRays show them as presented at 1.33, while the French back cover art shows it as presented at 1.66.
LATER EDIT: The torrent The.Green.Ray.1986.Arrow.1080p.BluRay.x265.HEVC.FLAC-SARTRE is from the UK BluRay in aspect ratio 1.66 and some of it is VERY GRAINY. I am guessing that is the footage shot on 16mm.
