newsgroup to release movies

I have been toying with the idea of posting to newsgroups my rips to help release them. So I had two questions...

1. How many understand and have an account to download more than 8 gigs a month from a news group.

2. I have been avoiding creating a new room becuse of the time it would take to populate to all the server. So the closest room to the right topic I could find was a.b.movies.kidstuff there is a little posting but not much. Anyone have a better rooms to suggest?

Sounds like a good idea, lots of rips will take some time on emule, but they will share in the end ;)

I'm not really familiar with Newsgroups, but if anyone else here is, maybe you could get together with lostandbroken and then there can be more sources on emule

Thanks for all the posts!! 8)

well my upload speed is not superfast but I got some bandwidth. But untill I get someone to loan me there OC3 line it could take a while for all my stuff to get released on emule. If atleast 5 people where able to download and share for a little while on emule it could make a huge impact. Its just that downloading from a newsgroup enters a whole new load of stuff to figure out (yenc, par, par2, rar, split files). Its no where near as easy eMule there are many places to learn but I'm really im not good at explaining it. So if there are some people who understand the newsgroups I might get started soon.

I got an news access, and am familiar with all par, rar and yenc stuff. Just let me know when and which group you will be posting to, and I'll get on it.

Ok so I have a lot of movies and the bandwidth so I decided to get started. I am kind of hijacking this group since I cant find any others. I am also hoping to start a trend :thumbup1: .

I have a few ideas on posting rules to make it easy on everyone.

MultiPart Yenc Posting

Split with WinRAR ( masterspliter is good for small stuff but not files over a gig)

Max Part file size of 30megs (i have found that 10-15megs is a good spot in case of missing parts)

Detailed NFO file (you can download one of mine for an idea)

I'm going to be posting in alt.binaries.movies.kidstuff unless someone knows a better place. I am using usenetserver.com. I have been using them for over two years now. Bloody fast and complete. With 5 conns I can break 900k. Cheap too. You will also be able to download my posts for atleast 25 days with out any missing parts.

Ok thats enough of the free plug

Any thoughts or input?

I'm uploading now. First set will be the thora effect. "Hocas pocas" and "monkey trouble". Then a post for workz "Liam".

Not sure I agree with people worldwide not being able to access the alt.binaries.* I happen to live in the US almost all ISP's allow access to the alt.binaries.* groups inculding all major providers. The issue ends up being the limit on how much can be download. Take Comcast one of the larger ISP's in the US. They can access the alt.binaries.* groups but can only download 2 gigs a month.

I belive that if you want to download from the newsgroups you should look into a monthly serice.

For thous in the US I think that [URLusenetserver.com is the best choice for speed and price. Thous from europe should look into http://eurofeeds.com/

But keep in mind its not as simple as just finding the file and downloading it. It's encoded in yenc to save overhead and it's been split and zipped and if parts are missing from your server you will need to fix it using par's.

As far as me just releasing on eMule it just does not work. I can't handle that many files on my line. Even if I get a few people to compete it(could take weeks just for that. There is nothing saying they are going to share it and it dies and is lost. I'm hoping after a bit of posting people will take notice of the group and start to download. From there it spreads like wildfire. Most new movies are released from the newsgroups and you can see the effect. Thousands of full sources and you can download overnight somtimes.

Its simple math really. I could share say 5 files plus the few im downloading gives me a Q of around 50-100 depending on what im downloading. I already give people that have a lot of a movie already download a friends slot but its really not that effective. There is about 100k of true upload speed to go around. So if I share 5 it could be about 3 weeks for you to download a movie from me. But if I save my bandwidth and use it to upload movies to a spot where people can download at blazing speeds with out waiting. There could be 4-5 sources overnight per movie. Plus you can download all 5 of my newest movies at once not having to wait to finish one. But it could be a little while before people take notice. But the more that do and share the easier for everyone to download. Bottom line we are talking weeks to download one movie or as little as a few days per movie/s.

But thats just my thoughts...

When it comes to the newsgroups the best advice I can give is.

Other than eurofeeds.com 100 meg free accounts I have not seen a free service that has compete posts. 95% of all pay newsgroup providers should have my movies complete. But if a few parts don’t come thru I don’t mind doing reposts. As it stands now my posts are 100% complete on usenetserver.com. My own newsgroup provider and I understand newsfeeds.com is also getting all the parts.

Second google.com is your friend. There are a LOT of sites explaining how to download and fix missing parts out there. I myself learned by downloading and looking to google when I was stuck. It’s a lot to learn at first but once you get it and you have a good newsgroup server to download from its easy.

Well, because til now posts in this forum was ed2k links, I'd like to know from forum administrators if could not be a better idea to have a different topic for newsgroup releases... is already difficult to browse in REL without have to filter also ed2k links from news ones.

What do you think?

:study:
You mean a different forum for Newsgroup releases? If other members want that too I can create one ;) But I prefer to browse REL's by country, just makes it easier for referencing

Well, now I am sure your posts are unuseful to me :(

You will have to excuse me if I seem rude but I'm starting to take offence at your posts. First off I hear a lot of "me" this and "me" that in your posts. Do you have any idea how many hours I have put into my little hobby. I could just hog everything to myself and leech off everyone else but I don’t. I prefer to give back when I take. In time the movies WILL MAKE THERE WAY TO EMULE. But nothing happens overnight. You are the only who seems to be complaining about my newsgroup posts. If your unhappy with my releases then maybe you your self could rip the same movies I do and release them on emule? :thumbup1:...

:manual: :sorry: ah... ook... I was stupid to think to have some answer in a forum
? are you kidding were not talking about what would be a small little post and walking in a car repair shop and asking about art will get you nowhere. There are sites that have more than a few full pages on newsgroups. Forgive me thinking you might actually spend some time looking for answers on your own as apposed to getting spoon fed from someone else.

If your just going to try and find fault and complain about my posts please just don’t read them.

If you had asked nicely I might have tried to help...
