For those of us who due to ISP blockage can no longer use EM, can we have an amnesty which does not give DD links directly, but says something like "also available via DD (MU)" or "also available via Torrent" please ? It would not be mandatory but also I think would not break any rules ?

Thanks you

I would change my ISP if they decided which protocols I can use. I pay for advertised bandwidth and it is none of their business what I do with it! (In fact they throttle my connection during certain time of day, but that is still more or less acceptable...)

Does any ISP actually block eMule and not torrents :think

I don't think it would help much if it is said that a file is available via DD or torrent without providing exact links. Clear that everything that is not a personal DVD/VHS/TV rip is available from other sources.

Probably not. There is evidence to suggest some ISP's block certain well-known default ports but they've got better things to do with their resources than monitor what traffic is using them. Their method of dealing with the underlying problem of excessive demand on a crumbling infrastructure is easily solved by 'traffic shaping' as they like to call it. Effective, but completely unacceptable. Certainly in the UK this is standard practice with users on the most expensive packages finding themselves throttled the heaviest & in some cases actually unable to achieve their 'fair usage' monthly allowance. Good news though....even the regulator has now had enough of these greedy twats & legislation is likely to follow, forcing them to actually provide the service they are advertising & charging for.

plonkah is a respected FLM member but I'm not so sure about others that clamour for torrent & d/d links. Not putting too fine a point on it, public torrent trackers & direct downloads are 'filesharing for fuckwits' requiring virtually no effort or obligation to share. This is not filesharing at all, simply a means of grabbing. Even offering clues here to releases available on private trackers such as thebox & cinemageddon seems to get a luke-warm reception, I suspect because this involves maintaining a share ratio, i.e. giving something back instead of simply grabbing & running.

I'll still continue to give broad hints where to find material I've discovered on another sharing platform but I have no intention of specifically uploading anything to rapidshare etc. or torrent trackers.
