Re: Regarding Shorts
i absolutely detest the word 'ot' and your interpretation BLT is even worse.
i think if Pop wants to start a new section for shorts that would be fine,but there would be a lot of shorts that probably wouldn't qualify according to the rules most likely to be laid down,where would they go?
probably into the aforementioned mess.

BLT Please don't!!BizarreLoveTriangle wrote:I hope I don't have to explain it in moar detail...
lets try to stay "on topic" with the discussion on short films. instead of YOUR ideal as to what you want this forum to be.

Re: Regarding Shorts
What is FLM about, then? Any movies that have a glimpse of a child in it? Any movies with (female) youth <=18yo with at least 10% screentime? Why did we have that discussion about [REL] Assol (1982) if it *obviously* matches FLM criteria?starfish21 wrote:i absolutely detest the word 'ot' and your interpretation BLT is even worse.
I just provided my opinion.loverboy wrote:Both popdrome & FLL have opened this up as a discussion to get feedback/ideas from members about releasing shorts. It isn't only your opinion that counts here.....

Re: Regarding Shorts
What category does a film fall into if it's "only" 19:45? Is a 10 minute professional film NOT a short? I think we're splitting hairs and that a short film is any professionally-made film that isn't feature length or made for a standard television timeslot.
I agree that "home movies" aren't appropriate but I don't think IMDb should be the final word. Maybe if a film isn't listed at any of IMDb, RFF, LMA, or CiC, but even then I wouldn't completely prohibit them. Some of the best films I've seen have been shorts - what a shame if we're kept from seeing something great because of hidebound rules.
I doubt we'll ever have complete agreement on what "OT" means, but I certainly don't want to hear "moar" about the definition certain people use. If that's the only thing you watch a film for, there are other avenues you can take without ruining it for the rest of us.
I see no problem with having a separate section for shorts. I see no problem with NOT having a separate section for shorts. Creating a a new section will be a lot of work for the admins - you have my support either way.

I mostly agree with popdrome about what FLM material is (though I'd bump the max age down to 16). Just because a film happens to have characters of an appropriate age doesn't make it an FLM movie. The characters have to be more than stage props and appear for more than a few seconds - in other words, their role couldn't be filled by a cardboard cutout. By the same token, they don't have to be the central characters.popdrome wrote:suitable if a (female) youth <=18yo with at least 10% screentime. No amateur stuff.

You're gonna win the betptguardian wrote:on a side note
I am willing to bet that the short BLT is referring to as his favorite is another PEE video. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0309811/.

Thanks again, gillesvolta!!!!!
This short is very difficult to find here, because "lot" is a common word and it does not appear in title, which would give the thread a higher rank.
I think a shorts section would be great, similar to music videos! However, more prominent, professionally produced shorts could be posted in release section.

Re: Regarding Shorts
Agree fully with Phuzzy4242s questions in first section of post. Up here in Nordic countries the national film boards has supported lots of short movies, lengths 7-25 mins of the reason that it fits childrens attention span perfect.
When it comes to IMDB-listings, this can't be the final word as many nordic docus aren't listed at all. For info on those you have to go to the websites of the national film boards or national broadcasters.

LOL! omg boys WAY out of proportion, but let me react;
first of all, I *just merely* posted some guidelines along which I will post my upcoming posts.. ok? ok.
I am NOT in favor NOR against IMDb. YES shorts shorter than 20 minutes are shorts! lol ...
not 1 vid posted there is longer than 21 minutes.. That's why.

Music video's - I don't particularly visit FLM for that, do you? IOW - there are other sources for that.BizarreLoveTriangle wrote:I don't get. You mean music videos should be posted in release section? Or all mixed up
WTF? completely respectless and uncalled for.. I provide these info's, pix, links and all that jazz for you.. you can use it (most likely) or ignore it (most unlikely)...BizarreLoveTriangle wrote:Anybody who prefers these rules can visit LMA, so we don't need to apply the same rules here.popdrome wrote:Personally, I like the simple idea of LostMoviesArchive.com: suitable if a (female) youth <=18yo with at least 10% screentime. My point exactly. No... 20 minutes was a choice based on the YT and Vimeo threads,loverboy wrote:Just curious popdrome.....why nothing under 20 minutes?
Personally, I'd like to see a separate section with a somewhat clearer definition of what can be posted or not. We know IMDB sucks but it's still the yardstick we use for other releases.(...)
I'm interpreting popdrome's post as 'intent to release'
not 1 vid posted there is longer than 21 minutes.. That's why.

Re: Regarding Shorts
"we should apply the same rule to short film" does not sound like just merely a guideline for your own posts.popdrome wrote:LOL! omg boys WAY out of proportion, but let me react;

And good ones!!! In fact, I'd call gillesvolta the king of short shorts!popdrome wrote:I am NOT in favor NOR against IMDb. YES shorts shorter than 20 minutes are shorts! lol ...
Sure I visit FLM for music videos. There are also other sources for movies, you know.popdrome wrote:Music video's - I don't particularly visit FLM for that, do you? IOW - there are other sources for that.
Well, hmm, do you know other *good* sources for music videos (if you know what I mean)?
I do appreciate your jazz, but we still don't have to apply the same rules here.popdrome wrote:WTF? completely respectless and uncalled for.. I provide these info's, pix, links and all that jazz for you.. you can use it (most likely) or ignore it (most unlikely)...
Not agreed. If there are nice visual moments, then the movie should be posted here, regardless of how big roles the children have. We do want moar^H^Hre movies like [REL] Der Baader Meinhof Komplex (2008).popdrome wrote:My point EXACTLYPhuzzy4242 wrote:Just because a film happens to have characters of an appropriate age doesn't make it an FLM movie. And length is not important! For example, "LOT" would certainly be worth to have its own thread! BTW, the author of "LOT" is a well-known actress and director, so it's made quite professionally.popdrome wrote:My point EVEN more exactly =8)BizarreLoveTriangle wrote:However, more prominent, professionally produced shorts could be posted in release section.
