[REL] The Christmas Bunny aka Just Where I Belong (2010)

The Christmas Bunny is Sophie Bolen's first film. She has completed four more projects since then including another full length film this year, so she may be an up-and-coming star. She is cute in this film but usually only has one expression; sad. Sophie won a best child-actress award for this film from the International Family Film Festival. Despite the dumb title, the film is pretty good.

Story: An abused 9 year old Julia (whose mother is a drug addict and an alcoholic) is placed in a new foster family. Foster dad is stressed because he can't find a job. Foster mom is an artist and very loving. Foster brother is not a bad boy but has no patience for a "broken foster sister".
Julia doesn't talk or otherwise engage in family life, she only watches "Velveteen Rabbit" movie over and over again. Some flashbacks show her mother coming late at night drunk and stoned (closing a door in some guy's face) and hitting Julia for not sleeping in a bathtub like she was told. So we know that Julia has a broken heart. When the family finds a hurt rabbit in the woods, Julia gets very attached to it. The only person that can help the hurt bunny is a weird old lady who lives on the farm with hundreds of abandoned animals. She refuses to return the bunny to Julia until the girl learns to take care of it properly. So Julia spends every afternoon after school at the old woman's farm helping with animals, and in the process of healing the bunny she heals her own heart.

I downloaded subrip to try and rip the subtitles for you. I tried following the directions but they got too confusing. I gave up after about an hour and a half of messing around. There has to be an easier way - but I don't know it.

You were much too kind. Sorry for the trouble, I thought it would be a brezze. I'm currently using VSRip.exe, part of the VobSub package. You get VobSub format subs from it (idx/sub files) instead of text (srt or the like). It's very simple to use: Start it and fill the input fields- One for the input IFO files (chose whatever from the DVD or a folder), and the other one for the destination folder - easily done using the Browse button by each text field. You'll have to wait while VSRip scans the associated IFOs and VOBs. If you've done everything OK, the "Save" button (or "OK", I don't remember) will be enabled. Just hit it and let it work.

I don't want to bother you, if it gets too hard just forget it. However, if you get to master it, it could be useful.

Thanks again!

I've always used subrip to create srt and rarely had problems with it. However, there *are* few DVDs that do not work with subrip.

We have subrip tutorial at https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... f=2&t=4908

The other option is of course VobSub (idx/sub), which do not require OCR (somebody else can then convert the resulting idx/sub to srt using subrip). I think some ripping programs like AutoGK have an option to create VobSub in addition to the rip.

This title, "The Christmas Bunny," has just been released again with a new title, but it is the same film. The new title is "Just Where I Belong," so if anyone runs across that, it is the same movie, and it is already here.

Thanks for the info, vidman49. Are you still sharing this? Did you manage to get the subs eventually?
