Noticing a dearth of girl movie recommendations
Noticing a dearth of girl movie recommendations
I'm noticing a decreased level of focus in movies involving girls and the opposite in regards to boys.
This is true with respect to the other film sites RareFilmFinder and Children in Cinema.
Is it me or this is where most of the interest happens to be as of current?

Re: Noticing a dearth of girl movie recommendations
In the past FLM was mainly girl-oriented and BM stuff was less than welcome but with the change earlier this year we've 'liberalized' (?) things a bit and don't mind BM. FLM is dedicated to first love and childhood movies. It would be a shame to miss out on a good film just because it's more boy-oriented than girl-oriented. Besides, wherever there are boys there are usually girls too.tedlawson wrote:I'm noticing a decreased level of focus in movies involving girls and the opposite in regards to boys.

RFF and CIC haven't favored boys OR girls - there's always been a diverse mix. RFF even advertises Baikal and other boy-only films. I haven't paid a lot of attention to CIC because much of it is for-pay and I'm too poor (read 'cheap') to pay for every site I visit, but many of the clips on eMule from CIC are boy-oriented so I have to assume they give at least equal time.

Our main focus is girls, so I don't see where your observation derives from? Perhaps it is because we also welcome boys? We have a preference but certainly do not discourage the other.tedlawson wrote:I'm noticing a decreased level of focus in movies involving girls and the opposite in regards to boys.

Actually RFF has always favored boys and when it started it was mainly just about boys. Just as we have evolved to be more about childhood both boys and girls in general so have they. Although we don't list everything an actor does including cartoons. They have become just a reference site sort of a IMDb for kids.Phuzzy4242 wrote: RFF and CIC haven't favored boys OR girls - there's always been a diverse mix.
An important note to add. Boy only sites are a big no no. I say this because the world police have always targeted them for being unwanted. We do not associate ourselves with the unwanted part that they are going after nor do we want to. Any coincidence no matter how intentional it may seem is just coincidence.
Also as stated girls are better and to be fair a lot of those boy oriented sites like to post screen shots of boys that can easily pass for girls, so they are not really boy only sites.
FLM's dedication is to first love, coming of age and interesting childhood movies involving actual children. We often give more credit to child actors than main stream media does, as such a lot of we post here is movies following young actors we like. We also have a lot of movies that are rare and from all over the world making this an International Smörgåsbord of childhood movies.
tedlawson,
Did we settle your uncertainty of what we are doing?
Re: Noticing a dearth of girl movie recommendations
You certainly did. However, I believe the opposite is true about the issue of BL sites.
I'm taking a risk at saying this but as a result of the increasing influence of the feminist and gay & lesbian world view everywhere there has been a proportionate level of sensitivity concerning the representation of girls or females in any media. There is also (in my opinion) the problem of hetero male appreciation for the feminine.... that is about as detailed as I'll go on that second point.
Anyhow, thanks again and I'd like to inform that my "handle" was inspired by the "Small Wonder" sitcom about a cute robot lg created by a male roboticist TedLawson.
Recalling the flood of negative opinions of the show many wondered out loud why a comedy about a grown man creating a robot lg?

RFF removed all their 'keywords'. A lot of people used those as an indicator of whether a movie was 'interesting' or not.ptguardian wrote:They have become just a reference site sort of a IMDb for kids.

Keywords are still there.
A couple ways to see them. Log in or click on a child's profile and you will see the letters next to movies if they have keywords.
