13-year-old Thomas is having a hard time. His mother is having an affair with a man he fears and he himself is discovering feelings for his girlfriend Toni that he has never had before. At a fair he is captivated by an odd-looking knife from the Indies. When he steals it to impress Toni, he is set on a chain of events that ultimately results in his being send off to a boarding school. Shot in black and white in the early 60's, "The Knife" is a compelling story which is considered a classic of Dutch Cinema.
