Another one.
Or is it the same one under a different name?
Same 71 posts.

Yes, it's a nuisance but easily handled. There's no good way to stop it, it's just the cost of doing business when there are f*cktards in the world. This one was sneakier than the last - it waited awhile after creating the userid before flooding us. Still, it only take a couple clicks to delete both it and all its posts. Just ignore it - we'll zap it as soon as we see it, which usually isn't very long.

Can i suggest 2 possible ways?
1st --- it can be banned from ip
2nd --- i know that in other forums they used the V.I.P. entrance. Only trusted and active members can view the threads by invite code or similar...

IP banning would be like using a cannon to swat a gnat. The spammer's IP will change so to make sure we blocked one offender we'd have to block a big chunk of IP ranges - thousands of addresses for big ISPs. One of those addresses might be yours or some other member's, especially if it happens to be on a proxy server. Banning by name is similarly useless - they'll just pick another name.ARTHORIUS wrote:Can i suggest 2 possible ways?

A VIP entrance might work but that would pretty much kill off new members. How do you become a trusted or active member if you're not allowed in in the first place?
We could make posting more restrictive but that's counter-productive. Granted, the vast majority of "members" here don't post at all, but we've gotten several fine "keeper" members in the last few months who probably wouldn't have joined in if we made FLM more restrictive. For major posters, extra restrictions might make it not worth the effort.
Things like needing a moderator to approve posts puts unneeded work on them with no real gain, and would chop a lot of participation. The spam would still happen. The users wouldn't see it, but they also wouldn't see anything new until a mod checks in.
Spamming isn't really that big a problem so going bat-crazy about it is silly. An admin can easily zap a spammer and all their posts. If and when it becomes a major problem we can think about being more restrictive but I wouldn't want to unless it's absolutely necessary. Spam is the cost of doing business in an internet where immature children are allowed online without their mommies.

You guys must realize this is a bot program spamming us?
I like the idea that you would have to be approved to a different security level to post more than 10 posts on any given day.
Just a thought.
