The other day I made the mistake of checking the PG2 history.
After 15mins of gurgling noises I found that over a period of 6 months PG2 had stored over 1.7GB's of history!!!!!, that’s 1.7 GB's of ones & zero's clogging up valuable hard drive space!!

Anyhoo, iv read that its better to set PG2 to delete history every 1 to 2 days.

Well I have tried this in PG2 settings, but it appears that it won’t save these settings after you restart your computer.

Please can anyone else here that uses PG2 please confirm that they do or don’t have the same problem.

my advice, get rid of it, not good to keep anything on your computer that keeps history/logs  what exactly does peer guardian do? maybe we can suggest some alternative for you to use ;)

maybe there is a program that is compatable with it that securely erases all logs etc, like CyberScrub for example, i used it everyday loads of times for deleting securely history and/or files, not to be paranoid just to keep my computer nice and clean :) vary algorythms also is good practise

but it doesn't suppost peer guardian by the looks

Practically all ed2k clients (eMule and variants) include native ipfilter support. This will do for eMule what PeerGuardian does for your entire computer. IMO if you have an antivirus and a firewall, and have ipfilter enabled and updated for your ed2k client, you're pretty secure.

I also run WinMX so would like to cover more than just eMule.

The history it logs is just the IP's it blocks.

Iv now found out that PGlite. http://blocktards.com has the no logging setting preconfigured and ready to go. All you need to do is install and run. It is a stripped down version of PG, has no logging or any other unneeded features.

Hi Rich

PG2 blocks known IP's from connecting.

A bit like the eMule filter, except it doesnt just block the servers the eMule filter blocks, it also blocks 1000's and 1000's of other bad IP's, handy if you also run other P2P's.

The block list is continuously updated.

Another thing is that PG2 will also block outgoing traffic... So if YOU try to connect (lets say... with bittorent) to a known fake tracker, PG2 will protect you to do it... That may become handy...
