This was quite nice:

Anna Elisabeth is the eight year old daughter of a veterinarian who works in a village. He is a tall, attractive, much-feared man. She loves him. She is very proud when she can carry his medicine bag. And of course, she wants to be a vet. She does everything to please him.

One day she is there when her father is called to the castration of a pig. Under his supervision, they must cut the pig, the testicles of the animal he presses into her hand. She tries to hold back her tears as he makes her feed the meat to the dog Kantor, her friend. She realizes her father will make her do things she doesn't like ...

Hmmm...

Obviously, I had NOT seen the film when I made my post on page one..

Following is my assessment of what I watched in relation to the statements made above; absolutely hindered by my ignorance of the German language. (Read on if you, a) have seen the film; or b) don't get pissed or annoyed when people spoil it for you... )

Spoiler: The statement I've printed in red did NOT happen. After the pig is castrated and after the father has cleaned the, um, jewels; He calls Anna-Elisabeth over to him and gives her a plastic bag, [Image] in which he drops the, um, jewels into. It seems right BEFORE he fills the bag, he asks HER to put the kimmelsnbits into the sack [ ], but she stands there mute, looks up at him [Image] then back at the yummies, not doing anything. He certainly doesn't press the gibblets 'into her hand'... As for the statement printed in blue: It was THAT time [the above paragraph] and right before, when she was watching the castration take place, that I got the sense she was trying to 'hold back tears'. Not when she fed one of the yummies to her dog. (Who obviously got a taste for it, if I'm to understand the ending correctly..) She rolled the treat out of the bag and pointed to it as the dog came up, sniffing. [Image][Image][Image] When the dad complimented her, she said 'Danke' [the only friggin' word I understood.. ], thanking him. No hint of tears there.

The part [ ] I found twistedly humorous:

Cool little movie, though. Just wish I understood German; this is one to definitely watch again when we get subtitles for it...

I worked on a farm several summers and that 'procedure' was done every year, but the hogs were only around a year old. I could give you a step-by-step but I doubt you really want me to. I can tell you it was quite noisy.

No, it wasn't the pig

I even heard it when the pig wasn't present at all

I might be misremembering tho (Been about a month since I last watched it)

But I'm sure I remember hearing some type of screeching throughout the movie
