Low ID

Post by rotwilerblue »   0 likes

I am really having a problem with the Low ID. Is it one of reason why I have low ID is because that my Kad is Firewalled? I am using Windows 2000. I tried to do the port forwarding (I am using Zytel Prestige 600 or 650,I don't know which one is it because the router sign is Prestige 600 but the Box said it is Prestige 650H) and I could not open the site due to password. What should I do?

thanks!

Well, Thanks! i already tried that one. My problem is I could not open the router site. It is somehow lock or password change. It is common that the password is 1234 but I tried and did'nt work.

Anyway, is it matter if I change into emule plus or emule 0.47 version? Does this may help me to configure my Low ID problem? If Does, which of which I use?

Thanks again!!

Firstly, please refer to mt answer to rmt in the following posting :-

https://www.first-loves.com/forums/v ... php?t=2257

Also, KAD and web interface can be safely disabled without adverse effect, and you can therefore ignore the need to open a UDP port, you only need TCP. Well known issues for lowid are :-

Not changing from default TCP port 4662 (just use an arbitrary port in that range but NOT this one)

Having either network or personal firewall block the traffic - easiest on this is to do a google on the firewall you use and emule, or if you post here will try to find info for you. If you disable your firewall and test for lowid, do you successfully connect ?

Not sharing enough files

Not allowing enough upstream/downstream.

So if you follow the information in the links given, you should be OK.

One final thing, why do you not have password access to your router - how can you possibly check/reconfigure port forwarding correctly or update firmware without this ?

hi rotwilerblue

i might have some suggestions.

I had LowID for a long time until i set the network-settings in windows/other os to static ip 10.0.0.2
mask 255.255.255.0
and standard gateway 10.0.0.1

and the DNS-servers provided by your isp. By doing so i also overcome the known problem with too many connections and Win XP SP2.

Second, the password to get into your router config-site, can be the activation-password provided by many ISP's. Thats the case with my isp here in Norway. I also have a Zyxzel Prestige 660 ADSL-modem (router) and had the same problems, untill finally finding out that i had to use the activation-pw. My experience with my Zyxcel so far is that i have to set the maximum number of connections quite low. Otherwise will the router timeout and restart all connections through it quite often. So most of the time i run without KAD enabled, except for the initial startup to pick up as bunch of KAD-sources as well.

Hope this can be of any help for you.

I am using a windows 2000, which it does not have a firewall. I am using Trend Micro as my ativirus protection which has firewall on it. But i acitivated it as direct connection. I can connect to emule even I have antivirus firewall on it. I am using Malware Sweeper for anti spyware protection. I tried ones to disable the firewall in my antivirus but still have low id.

I will try the other sugestion using other default Static IP and I will try to use the access pasword to my router.

thanks! I'll get intouch with you guys later as soon as I tried all of your suggestions.

Hi Rotweiler and all who are problem lowid. Please see this page which includes a connection tester (shows you the hash of your IP to give you what your actual ID on emule should be - wow !). I would stress again that it is a KNOWN issue that if you use the default ports (4662/4672), you MAY have a lowid. It is little problem to change these to something close (say 4661,4671), and port forward these on your router instead - and also on your personal firewall. Disable KAD and then you don't even need to set UDP ports, although I have seen problems when UDP disabled even when notusing KAD so would not recommend this (default 4670) - it makes NO difference to have KAD enabled other than to flood your network ports and possibly cause MODEM/router crash. Make sure you are sharing enough content. Finally, try connecting (very quickly as it is easy to pick up nasty things so I wouls also recommend you do a full sweep after), without ANY of the following enabled (that is disable and then REBOOT and then connect - otherwise you may still have the filter driver loaded in memory) :-

Antivirus
Personal firewall
Any spy sweeping software you have
Anything else which runs in realtime mode and could possibly cause this problem

Once you have then used the above site to confirm you are highid, switch on one by one (remember to REBOOT during each enable before retrying), in this way you will see which is causing the problem.

One other thing you can do right now which will confirm the problem is run a command prompt and type in :-

netstat -an >c:\netstat.txt

This will show the status of all your ports - you can post output here** if you like (netstat.txt), but please refer to the help shown in emule program under firewall to check which ports MUST be open.

**This will show your IP address and other details which you may want to edit out before posting - all we need is the state of the ports

In summary :-

Post the netstat.txt here then

1. Disable KAD - you don't need it.
2. Change port used in emule to (say) 4661 or 4668
3. Set this to port forward on router
4. Set this and the other ports as shown in emule help on personal firewall (my ports are set to allow any/any - tw so far no intrusions)
5. redo netstat - an >c:\netstat1.txt and post here netstat1.txt
6. Check your ID again
7. Try the methods suggested disabling all of then reenabling one by one (you can do a netstat -an each time to see if any change on these posts)
The point of the netstat is to show if whichever port you have configured in emule is in state :-
connected - no problem
listening - no problem
wait - waiting connection but could be problem
closed - unable to connect to this port - this will result in lowid

If you have questions post in FAQ and will try to reply - hope this is useful to some.

Rich/Ghost - since this is likely to be regular question asked, can this be pinned in FAQ along with post about disappearing logins ?

Disable KAD - you don't need it.
No!!!! That's not true!

You don't need eDonkey servers. You can run eMule only with KAD without being conneted to a server. The KAD net has become very important!

Only going from forum recommendations + the fact that my KAD has been disabled as long as I can remember and I have no problems with download sources at all. Current speed av around 50K/s
