maybe better to just place them in a 'deleted' section or 'bad movies' section, so if you search, you find it and see that there's no point in re-enter it.
Just my thought (as i allways do a search before i post
Thanks for the input, but I think that will not please the releasers very much.maybe better to just place them in a 'deleted' section or 'bad movies' section, so if you search, you find it and see that there's no point in re-enter it.
You got a point thereDebaser wrote:Thanks for the input, but I think that will not please the releasers very much.
The reason I was advocating descriptions in reviews rather than ratings is that we are all aware that ratings are subjective - what you like I may not. But if I tell you that the film is about two kids, one boy and one girl who delights in waering shorts the whole film, but also likes to take baths - well you have more of an idea - whereas unless there was some great story, I would probably rate such a film as 4 or 5 at most out of ten. If you like shorts on girls, you might rate that as 9 or 10 - therein lies the problem. I agree the point in principle about good and bad information, just not the methodology. Maybe we need a vote on this with say three options :-emuler wrote:The whole point of this site is information. IMHO negative information is just as important as positive information. If a movie is no good, I want to know about it here before I download it.
We could have a rating system, or maybe TOP 10, TOP 50 and TOP 100 lists with links to facilitate searching, as well as a 'rotten tomatoes' kind of list for the crappy ones.
Even this thread itself is very useful. The names listed by infiniter - that's the kind of thing I'm talking about.

Sounds a good idea, but I wonder if that tag would then encourage very off-topic releases, because this tag would allow them too.But my main point is that first we clearly have to state the focus of the board, and then we can tag releasethreads that we find off-topic with a tag like [Off-T] in the header/headline.
i don't think "special scenes" are that important, as long as there is a strong childhood role/s throughout the movie then it belongs heremongodisco wrote:With great interest, i've been reading the discussions lately on further development of the forum. Before even starting thinking of deleting threads, we have to agree on whats the main thematic of this board. For me it comes down to displaying for the others films depicting a childhood thematic, or where children have great/important roles in movies. For others it is "the first moment of falling in love" and for yet others the interesting is "the special scenes". I was using this board for ages, and still am using it without a clear picture of what is the main thematic.
Second, after clearly stating the main topic of the board, then we maybe can tag releasethreads with something like [Off-T] after the moviename. It will clearly show the status of the movie in relation to the focus of the board. But it will not be deleted or put in a scrap-heap. This will still show public credit to releaser, even if the movie falls outside the main focus (actors being to old, children playing only minor parts and so on).
For a long time i was wondering if i should set up another board for childhood-related movies, because i didn't feel to well in the athmosphere of the great search for special scenes. But i decided to stay to see where the board was going. For the issue of "special scenes", i would really appreciate it if admins/mods would consider implementing a spoiler tag mod. This means that by adding a php-hack we will be able to write about "special scenes" inside a field marked by these two tags->. This leaves it to the user if he wants to click the "spoiler-area", as a small drop-window opens in the forum-thread with the info on for example special scenes and other kind of spoilers. This has been implemented with great success at both the norwegian board and at Fileheaven, for the sections of the board where they are discussing movies, tv-series and so on (i.e Maniacs Inn and the release-threads).
