[REL] Land of Light (2016) short [France]
Five children running from the war in Syria set out on a journey that soon leaves the realms of reality. Acted completely by Syrian children who themselves fled to Turkey, this film is a multi-layered parable for what war does to children.

Not sure if this is France or not - I'll change it if someone tells me otherwise.
Arte wrote:Hoping to save their skin, five children each leave their village destroyed by the war, guided by Raissa, who invented an imaginary country where peace prevails.
Raïssa, 11, lives in a small village in a war zone. When her father disappears, she invents an imaginary place, "the land of light", where all desires are realized. Then her grandmother is assassinated and she finds herself alone with her little brother. The girl then decides to go with him to find this magical country. Every time they meet a child on their way, Raïssa speaks to him about this place where peace reigns, where all beings are equal, irrespective of their ethnic or religious affiliation. Children believe in her prophecies and follow her in this perilous undertaking. But the group of friends so welded at the beginning is confronted with darkness, mistrust and fear. Will their journey be doomed to failure?
This film was born from a theatrical project conducted with Syrian refugee children in Reyhanli, Turkey. The documentarist Thomas Ruf and his team worked with the children for several weeks to collect their testimonies, which served as the basis for the script. A large "crowdfunding" campaign helped finance his shooting, which took place in a neighboring region.
