Try BitComet or uTorrent.

Azureus is also good. Needs Java, though, but if you don't mind that, Azureus has a great looking interface. Check out the swarm. Mesmerising.

Have java on machine I think, but not sure about this cos always surf with js disabled (prevents porn popups), so i think would be wary about using this client. If I am confused over the security risks can some techie advise.

Also heard really bad things about utorrent - apparently writer now works for a company known to use dirty tactics to trace freeloaders.

Bitcomet not heard about.

Javascript is different from Java. You can still keep js disabled in your browser.

The great thing about torrents is their relative speed but you won't find so much rare stuff unless someone on this forum wants to seed it! I haven't used Bitcomet although I remember reading somewhere that it was used as a leeching program.

Not true... They had a contract, a few years agos, to create create a system (or provide some informations) about some kind of encryption method they had created. There is no link today, between those two company..

This story was submited to digg.com a few weeks ago.. You could find more details on digg.

OK so you recommend utorrent (which I have installed but not configured yet). But how to get access to fileshareheaven ?

Also, similar thing with newsgroups, do you often find all parts to a movie posted, or do you usually have to download some then wait ? Do the files come in any strange format which needs converting.
Sorry for newbie questions !

try sites such as piratebay.org or http://www.torrentz.com/ once you locate a file you have to add it to your downloads in much the dame way as emule torrents download differently though.
