I got my hands on the limited DVD release of this very rare movie, so I decided to share the ISO image.

The movie is about games and fantasies of a little girl named Kati.

English subtitles machine-translated from Russian used to be so entertaining. Google has improved so much that they are now actually pretty good and can be read soberly. They are not perfect, but certainly usable.

There is a (smaller) dvdrip there, with the russian subtitles and some bonus features.

Anyway, it has this note:

[Translation] Russian subtitles were made by johnnyleo on the basis of Soviet dubbing sheets. And the film is a Soviet art house, and so is the Soviet translation.

This film was post-sync dubbed in Estonian, with the dialog mostly as narration (think Terrence Malick movies): no need to match lip movements. As is typical in such cases, the Russian dub was apparently timed differently and the Russian subtitles match that different timing. So sometimes there is a translated-from-Russian subtitle and no Estonian dialog to match it; I only did a brief review, but there may also be cases where there is Estonian narrated dialog and no Russian-to-English translation to match. Make sense? Also, the Russian version would have had its own end credits, which again do not exactly match the timing of the Estonian version.

So all in all, the new English subtitle is MOSTLY in sync with the Estonian version.

I wanted to make a little post to this thread stating just how much I adore this movie, if you haven't seen it I highly recommend you do.

I don't speak Estonian but I don't believe you need to know the language to appreciate art, I come back and watch it a couple of times a year and I just love it. If you love kittens and a cute girl then you should like this movie! Easily one of my favourites.
