Well done for finishing this project!! So I think I wasted about 6 hours timing the first 40minutes of this :( - and also thanks for posting that you would also be doing it! It stopped me wasting more time on finishing my attempt! Anyway, was interesting to learn what was roughly being said as I went along - and I enjoy using Aegisub.
I watched a few minutes of yours and could tell instantly the dialogue was better - will now watch the whole movie some time! The AI translation worked a lot better on the French audio in Les Inseperables - that film I did a few months ago. I am confident on >90% of the dialogue in that.
Some "minor" comments...
42m39s - 2 lines of dialogue overlap I think - maybe an accident?
Playing the file to match my 1080p version the subtitles seem a fraction out of sync, with the subtitle appearing about half a second before the dialogue in one scene I watched - the scene when they go to the sea. What version did you time it against? Sometimes there can be tiny differences between video versions, eg. 30fps and 29.97fps - so sometimes they can drift.
I also recomend using Aegisub so you can perfectly match the timing of when they start talking by looking at the waverform graph. Also keeping the subtitles on screen long enough to maintain <17cps (characters per second) - obviously impossible when lots of people are talking quickly though :(

Thx David for testing.
I used the program "Subtitle Edit" (SE) also by using the waveform graph. I have the ISO version oft the movie with 25 fps.
As a tested with the VLC player the timing was quite good.
With SE you can easily adjust sync problems e.g. with the option "visual sync".
I know there are fast spoken scenes with a lot of text so it is hard to read all in time.
I tried not to shorten or even skip dialogs. ;)

What's this story ? I have no doubt that this film was successful in Germany, but "Une glace avec deux boules..." is a French film performed entirely in French with French actors. It's just co-produced with Germany, the action also takes place entirely in France. This topic should be renamed by its French title in the France section. It's cultural theft :o  !

By the way, where is the original version ? There is only the German dubbed version here :( ....

The Japanese really have a lot more respect for the works of foreign countries, when their publishers put a blu ray on the market, the original version is essential.

Valérie sings too ! But not in German  !

That probably explains why it got posted in Germany and has stayed there since, since that is the version that was available! If everyone is talking German it must be a German film, right? ;)

Désirée Nosbusch is Luxembourgish. But yeah I see that most of the rest of the cast looks to be French.

I have to admit that "Superbiester!" is a pretty cool title. If anyone can find and share a version with original French audio that would be great. I changed the Subject line so that it has the German title first because that is all we have. But at least the French title is now there.

I see that the first post has the FULL French title listed as
"Une glace avec deux boules ou je le dis à maman"
and IMDB has it as
"Une glace avec 2 boules ou je le dis à papa!"

Do the Japanese typically dub foreign films or do they just use subtitles? If they do not have the cultural tradition of dubbing, then the original version is simply there by default. I have purchased a small number of Japanese BluRays but they were for Japanese films. They were kind enough to subtitle them in English for me. Sometimes when a film is licensed for distribution in another country, it is ONLY licensed for that country's language-version. This is to prevent people importing a less expensive "foreign" version that also has the original audio because the native country's distributors do not want the competition. ... Now that I think about it, I have a few "foreign" movies where the Japanese version has hardcoded Japanese subtitles, which does somewhat ruin it for everyone else.

And so, they are French-speaking too...

So, who is Superbiester ? The film or the girls ? 8-)

So there you have it, this rarity that is hard to find... even to extract the French track.

Wikipedia says that Luxembourgish is the national language but they also speak French and German. "French is the only language for legislation, and all three – Luxembourgish, German and French – are used for administrative matters in the country." Désirée did both German and French films and is multi-lingual. I have NO idea why they chose "Superbiester!" I don't understand the real meaning of the French title either (other than how it translates), but then I don't think I have actually seen the movie. That IS some fantastic VHS artwork! It would be a shame if that is the final French language release. I found some emule&torrent files that are at least TITLED "Une glace avec deux boules" but it remains to be seen if they complete and have French audio, or are still the German dub. [EDIT: they are still the German dub.]

There was apparently a limited edition blu-ray of this movie (only 500 copies, they claim).

https://www.amazon.de/gp/product/B08GLW9926
https://mediabookdb.de/mediabook/5501/s ... geburtstag

I can't find it available anywhere, but it's harder for me as a non-German speaker to peruse the search results from sites that sell discs. Some refuse to display correctly or let me attempt to order anything if I load a translated version. If anyone can find a place to order this (where it's still in stock) I'd appreciate it! I will of course post the bluray here if I can get hold of it.
