Julie (TV series 2005)

https://www.peliplat.com/en/library/tv/pp12289788

Note: IMDB incorrectly states 5 episodes when there are only 4.

Episode 4 streaming: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g0mTpI33lKc

Danish and English subtitles for all 4 episodes:
https://www.opensubtitles.org/en/search ... 62/season-

(I have not checked sync for the two episodes I have.)

Nice bump, pillowbaker! I have loaded all the ed2k links into emule and I will see what downloads. So far I downMuled the [Norwegian] subtitles for episode 1, so I would think that the videos might also be available. If anyone has the videos please reshare! Or if anyone has found alternate sources for episodes 2 and 3, then do tell.

Update - It was pretty clear that the opensubtitles English was machine-translated from the Danish. I was not able to get them to resync for Episode 01, but I was able to for Episode 04. For Episode 01 I used the one subtitle I have been able to downmule so far. It is clearly an entirely different [Norwegian] subtitle, AND I was able to get it to resync to the YouTube video.

I also assumed that a Google machine-translation done NOW would be more accurate than one done in 2016, or way back in 2011. Therefore I RETRANSLATED the Danish for episode 4. As a work in progress, synced to the 2 episodes found on YouTube, here are Norwegian and English subtitles for Episode 01, Danish and English subtitles for Episodes 04.

[EDIT: I changed the post text AND the attachment to correctly identify what is Danish and what is Norwegian.]

Thanks for the backup interest and helping promote resharing of the series, Night!! I noticed the same thing about the imdb episode listing and thanks for pointing out the English subtitles, derp. :P

I noticed the production company is listed as DR (Danmark Radio) and they have many other shows. I wonder if they are like the Swedish and Norwegian SVT and NRK companies and also have their own geocentric streaming options. Been checking it out, but the show title is a little difficult to search with, even with just Scandinavian results!

edit: (response to Night's last post)
Good call on the retranslation. I saw comments here that the original translation done back in 2011 resulted in nonsense English, but during my attempts to find Julie on Danish websites, I see that at least google translate does a pretty good job with Danish language to English now. Must have been quite the upgrade since 2011! What a time to be alive!

Thanks for the new subs, Night!

I watched the first and last episodes and enjoyed them! The last has a plot recap so I got sort of caught up with what I missed from the middle episodes.

From what I have read about them I would say YES. I noticed in the video credits that SVT and NRK were coproducers of the show. I did not find "Julie" at any of their sites. DRTV site here: https://www.dr.dk/drtv/ Some shows are geoblocked and some are not.

No kidding! The emule search "Julie" results are almost all p0rn actresses. I ended up doing searches with director Poul Berg in Google.

I got the [Norwegian] emuled subtitles for episode 3 (no video yet) when it became available and I machine-translated it. Comparing it with the Danish-to-English subtitles I see lots of similarities in the two Scandinavian languages. Doing some online reading, apparently they are almost identical in vocabulary, but pronounced very differently. However, Norwegian and Swedish are closer in pronunciation but with some different words. I have also noticed that Google machine-translation makes similar mistakes for all three languages.

I have even seen the claim that Norwegian is Danish spoken with a Swedish accent! This is fascinating. I should have stuck with linguistics, since it fascinates me decades later.

An interesting way to put it that even most Swedes that I've communicated with said is actually mostly true. With my linguistics classes, they used the Scandinavian languages to demonstrate, likely to Americans unfamiliar with the idea, the notion that not all languages are completely dissimilar, or mutually unintelligible, as they like to say. There's another "claim" that a language is a dialect with an army and a navy. I found it super fascinating that speakers of different languages can be mutually intelligible! I have also heard that the Norwegians in particular are very keen on promoting and maintaining regional variants of their language, and they support distinct dialects. Thus, supposedly, some Norwegian may have more trouble understanding some of their fellow countrymen in Norwegian language than the Swedes across the border. I get confused when I try to understand the concept of Norwegian Bokmål and Nynorsk. I can read all about it, but I still have so many question!

I also find language isolates to be particularly fascinating!

It appears your experience with it was quite different than mine. In the courses I took, well they sure put us to work! But we didn't have those same stacks of handouts (or the hot prof) that you had. I'm not saying the way you had it wasn't right! It may be that all that study was the sign of a more advanced course. I am still just a newbish enthusiast even compared to the average European.

By the way, I have managed to download all the DVDrip of Julie posted here by pt. Did you manage to grab them, Night? I am sourcing them now as release!

Thank you to everyone who reshared ptguardian's DVDrips and For An Angel's transcribed [Norwegian] subtitles! I really enjoyed this series!

I should have read the old posts more carefully. The original videos posted by mongodisco had hardcoded [Norwegian] subtitles for this Danish series, so For An Angel transcribed and posted the Norwegian for the first 3 episodes. The different subtitles I found at opensubtitles were Danish, to match the spoken dialog.

I did not pay proper attention so I got the Norwegian and Danish confused! I posted all sorts of misinformation, drivel and stupidities. I am glad I am a Moderator so I can go back and fully edit my old posts without seeking permission! I think I made them so that all the information and attachments are correct now. Sheesh.

For episodes 1-3 of the DVDrip, I resynced and machine-translated For An Angels's Norwegian subtitles. For episode 4 of the DVDrip, I resynced and machine-translated opensubtitle's Danish subtitles. Only minimal corrections were made.
