It'S certainly not a bad movie. But I would have enjoyed it a lot more, if the child role would last during the whole movie.Moonee wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 3:12 pm do you mean that as in it is a great movie?
or it could have been a great movie (for example if the child had more scenes)?

It is a really great short film with an open ending, if you stop it early.

Exactly, that's why I think it's worth sharing, a great short childhood memory film. No one asked you to finish watching it, right? You're not even in the cinema seat. I often skip a lot of plots and parts that I don’t like, but I always cherish those lovely and beautiful (and usually short) moments.Night457 wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 4:28 pm It is a really great short film with an open ending, if you stop it early.

I'm the kind of person that when I start a movie, I need to finish it regardless of how boring it is
That's why I try not to watch a movie unless it's super good

Re: [REQ] Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
I totally will stick through a decent enough movie until the end! But it is just possible that I will only bother with my favorite parts if I revisit it. Once I see the whole thing I can decide that. I think I even edited my own version of "Four Rooms" so that it only has the Robert Rodriguez short.
I no longer have a problem with shutting off a movie and never going back to finish it, but that is much more likely if it is the beginning part that I don't like. (I have even left the cinema too.) If they can not draw me in early then I give up. If they get me from the start then they have earned my good will, even if the rest of the movie does not appeal to me quite as much. It is sort of look putting up with some adults in real life because I can remember when they were still young and nice and charming. I am forgiving when age has turned them into a miserable grump. When I want to needle them I can say "You used to be such a sweet sweet thing, what got a hold of you?"
But honestly this is all theoretical because I have not seen "Crawdad" and I was being waggish.

Yes, I often wish I could do this when I really hate the montage or some plot of a movie. But then I realized that I could actually spend my time finding and watching other movies, where there are always some overall good ones. It's not really worth spending much time editing it yourself because of copyright and distribution issues etc.Night457 wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 5:04 pm I think I even edited my own version of "Four Rooms" so that it only has the Robert Rodriguez short.
But I won't close a movie just because it's badly started, I'll quickly check the later parts so I don't miss out on some nice moments. You know that first impressions don't always represent a person's deeper personality, maybe they're actually good.
Re: [REQ] Where the Crawdads Sing (2022)
Yeah, usually it is much easier to fast-forward to the best parts or do something else in the same room while the movie plays and only look up for the favorite bits.
I do not think copyright and distribution issues are a huge concern here at FLM, nor in the privacy of one's own home.

I've been pirating for over 10 years now and I've never been caught
I only use piracy for personal watching, I don't give anyone copies or sell them for money

I mean when you're just watching it yourself, you usually don't have to take the time to finely re-edit a movie in detail.Night457 wrote: Wed Sep 03, 2025 5:26 pm Yeah, usually it is much easier to fast-forward to the best parts or do something else in the same room while the movie plays and only look up for the favorite bits.
