Clicking KAD does nothing, just keeps saying "connecting".

the popup you got, was a message from your firewall, i'm quite sure...

It looks like you, by clicking yes, turned off emule's right to access inet.. What firewall app do you have?
Norton (Symantec) or something else?

Do you REALLY get betterresults from KAD
When I search for a title, I use both KAD and the regular way.
I find that sometimes a title I can’t find using the server search can be found using KAD, and vice-versa.

Personally speaking, I get better results with KAD.

Yes, it is the firewall that is responsible. Or, more accurately, you. ;) :D

Find your firewall configuration and either change the setting for emule.exe, or delete the setting altogether which will show you the popup dialog again. This time please allow emule.exe both to connect to the internet AND to accept connections from the internet.

Be alert to the possibility of more that one firewall. Windows XP internal firewall has an annoying habit of turning itself back on after a Windows Update. Also, some antivirus packages have a worm protection feature which is a mini firewall. Some network monitoring apps also have a bundled firewall.
