In the meantime, someone has given me a cracked copy of Ashampoo Burning Studio 8...........

Well it all looked very nice to start with, but of course after giving it a try, its a load of old shite.

After I got the completed message window, I popped the DVD in my xbox.
Of course, it wont play, I just get some silly message telling me that it doesn’t recognise the disk.

I even made sure I used a DVDR not DVDRW disk!!

You read the forums and they start harping on about Ashampoo burns in REGION 0??
and that DVD- disks will work better than DVD+.

Honestly it makes my bloody head hurt.

I really hope Corel does a better job than this Ashampoo junk.
Further more, it turns out that my old xbox is supposed to read DVD-R's so it must be the Ashampoo program im using.

dvdflick works perfectly and does it in two steps:step one uses dvdflick to convert the avi into dvd type files. imageburn is included with dvdflick, and step 2 burns the dvd itself. it works with dvd+ or dvd-, and also works with dual layer dvds for larger movie sizes.

another method I've used is first convert the avi with divx-to-dvd, then burn the disc with one -click dvd copy. the longest part was just converting the file(700MB takes around an hour). the actual burn took about a minute.

dvdflick is great, but if you want to burn the disc on high priority settings, forget about using your pc for that time as it uses up alot of ram for the conversion.

whichever method you take, the discs work in the xbox, standalone dvd players and your pc of course.

1st prize chrisv :icon_1dancingban

It worked first time!!!
God knows how it made the original avi file better quality and made it play on my old xbox, but it did :)

There are very slight start stop moments every few seconds, but honestly, its hardly noticeable unless a camera is panning.
