I am convinced I must be somehow wrong because 3 members agree that there is a problem with the ulozto DVD5, but I am going batty because I just can not replicate that problem! I go straight to the menu every time and it plays both parts.
I know it is absurd for me to complain when things work RIGHT for me.
Maybe your operating systems are too advanced for the file, and the only way it works properly is to roll back to my Windows 8.1? Not that I would recommend that.
Something was wrong with the "original" disc (which had clearly undergone some reauthoring). I made a small change, editing a startup command to jump directly to the main menu. It seemed to fix things. Of course PGCEdit and VOB Blanker, the two pieces of software I usually use for this kind of thing, often repair common reauthoring mistakes automatically when you change something. That's probably what happened here.
I've also run into problems on DVDs where they put in those bad Russian dubs - not an issue with this one because the movie is native Russian. But when you remux the .vob files to remove that dub track the glitchy behavior of the disc goes away. Obviously some of those releasers are sloppy with their reauthoring.
If you open the .iso I posted in Windows you can use the old program DVD Decrypter to extract the .vob files for each part.
You have to into Tools --> Settings --> IFO Mode. Look on the left where it says File Splitting, and select None from the dropdown menu. This prevents it from giving you a file broken up into multiple parts like they are on an actual DVD. You just want one big .vob for each episode.
Maybe I should've posted it that way in the first place, as two .vob files rather than the disc - which is probably more trouble than it's worth.
