Different versions of "Turn of the Screw" are in this thread, which is by no means complete:

FLM "screwheads" please feel free to add more names of "Turn of the Screw" adaptations to that thread!

Night457 wrote: Fri Jul 04, 2025 10:56 pm The NAMES of the children are absolutely the least important thing about "The Turn of the Screw", it is the basic story that matters. In the version "La Tutora" they are called Ángel and Ema.
Wait, I was meant to watch that movie the other day.. I kinda forgot but I'll def be watching it tonight

La Tutora is also based off Turn of the Screw???

It wouldn't be a SPOILER if I said YES, would it? Very definitely so. Of course there are some plot changes, but Ivan Noel was very open and deliberate about it being a Henry James update.

Geeze, this took awhile to d/load for some reason... :wall

Watched it last night. While it has some of the tropes of 'Turn of the Screw' (TotS):

(Again, for members that have NOT seen the movie; my 'Spoilers' spoil! Don't click unless you don't care about knowing stuff.. :P )
Spoiler:

* Busy adult guardian, though this time it's a father, instead of an uncle..
* The girl is at the house when the Nanny arrives, while the boy is away at a boarding school.
* Soon after she arrives it is revealed that the boy has been kicked out of the school and will be returning home.
* Nanny and house staff at odds with one another; staff seems to be protecting the boy.
In the end there were far more differences that veer it away from TotS into a standard, Made-For-TV thriller:
Spoiler:

* Boy and girl were absolutely at odds with each other; in TotS they always working together against the Nanny.
* The plot twist of the boy possibly NOT being parents real son.
* Ms. Gray was pretty obviously a twisted, maniacal b*tch from the get-go.
* The father, once he realized that SOMETHING was going on, made it a point to involve himself.
* No 'supernatural' factor in the plot. Everything was based in reality.
I enjoyed the movie, but it was not really comparable to TotS in that this movie, Nanny Killer, didn't create the sense of dread that ate away at the Nanny/Governess's sanity (in TotS) due to the facts that were 'Spoilered' above.

So, while not really 'based' on TotS, you could probably build a case that it heavily 'plagiarized' many of the plot points of the TotS story line... ;)

Did that help you any, Moonee? :think

Yeah it did, thank you!

I'm pretty certain the reason I thought it was a turn of the screw movie was because of the kid getting kicked out of his boarding school

Which also happens in TotS

Thanks for your "review", kev.

I'd also say that this movie has nothing or only a little in comon with TotS (as far as I can remember).

It's a about an evil child (the girl). TotS wasn't.

???

(Again, again; don't click unless you want to KNOW! [Da TRUTH!] ghost >>> Totally need to click this 'Spoiler'.. ;) )
Spoiler:

ghost: That could have been a MAJOR friggin' 'Spoiler' if it hadn't been so friggin' WRONG! :P And, tbh ghost; it's STILL a 'Spoiler' even if you were INTENTIONALLY misleading.. ;)
