I forgot about the Florida Project, that was a great movie. I own Tideland but I haven't watched it yet. Terry Gilliam is an amazing director, though.

Oh believe me, I can create a much longer list. I made only a quick view on my App with my movie collection and pick up some titles who I rated with 5 Stars and with little Girls. And in this App i didn't have listet all the digital stuff who I collect.

But the fact that I declare some newer titles as real favorites also has a lot to do with the fact that I go to the Berlinale every year where I can see a large number of current films from all over the world.
The films I've seen there often leave me with many different impressions and experiences that I like to remember.

I admit quite openly that I often can't do quite as much with older films. Of course, I also have some classics that I really like, such as Charlie Chaplin or the many old Bond films etc.

I would say my heyday of movies starts sometime in the 90s.

Terry Gilliam is an awsome director and it's time for you to watch that movie. Jodelle Ferland was a really beautifull little girl and how she's acting in that special movie is outstanding.

I love her southern drawl in the trailers and she is very adorable. Sally Salt/Sarah Polley was also adorable in Baron Munchausen.

This year, was Dieter Kosslick already not the film festival director anymore? Was there anything different? Do you like genearion14+ category they have?

What app do you use for your digital library or lists? Do you use any local media server ?

Sadly Kosslick left the Berlinale in 2019. Since them there is a Duo the Head of Berlinale... Mariette Rissenbeek and Carlo Chatrian. For some strange reason booth are not from Germany and lot of fans (inlcuding me) where very sceptical about this new Duo and around the middle of this Year Mariette Rissenbeek announced to left her chair and some weeks later Carlo Chatrian announced the same thing.
So 2024 would be the last Berlinale for booth of them. There is still no public announcement, who will do that job after them, but the Goverment for Culture say, that there will be only one person again in the Future. The only little strange thing around that: In the past they where so happy to announce that they have now two who managing the Berlinale, because the Berlinale is to big for only one person... Now the made a step Backwards, so I think there where lot of problems with that two guys.

Any changes? Oh yes, they where but some of them because of Corona (and I think it was very hard to mange the Berlinale at this time).
Well, one big change was, that they reduce the sections of the Berlinale. One was "Kulinarischen Kino". For next Year they made a strange decission to remove "Perspektive Deutsches Kino". This section was especially for German movies. I saw "Dark blue girl (Die Tochter) in this section, for example. From the press we got to read, that 2024 will also reduce the Screenings, but that's more because of all the problems with Corona and the War.
Another change in the last year was, that they only sold tickets over the Web. They say it's only because of Corona but it was a bit strange and there where lot of peoples who can't buy tickets. And it was the first time where you don't read in the Press about People who sleeping in front of the ticket counters to catch the Tickets for the Competition. But that's not all. The ticket counters where always a interesting place to meet People who also try to catch some of the famous tickets and it was always a exciting event to wait in the lane for the tickets and watching the Monitor who showing the status for each Screening with Green, Yellow and the bad Red. So when you where close to the counter and the color was switching to Yellow... Damn, heart attack
I hope that it really was only for 2023 and it will be back on 2024. Oh and I hate that digital tickets only in the last year, because I always let sign my tickets after the Screenings.

The section Generation 14+ is sometimes ok for me, but I prefer more the kplus Movies. 14 Plus Movies can be very strange or very hard. My first 14plus movie was a movie from Poland called "Baby Blues" in 2013 and I was a bit shocked with that Story. 2018 the Movie "Fortuna" winning the Crystal Bear and it was the first Gala Show who I have left, because this movie was to strange for me (and I don't want to see it a second time). Than I remember me on In 2016 I saw "Las Plantas" and I understand absolutly nothing from that movie.
But every year I gave that section a new chance and sometimes I select one or two movies from this. But most movies I see in kplus.

Now to the last point, the Apps. Not sure if you recognize it, but I working on a Mac.
For my DVD / Bluray Collection I using DVDPedia. But (again), corona destroy a lot around collecting Movies on Disc. Streaming Services growing up, Shops reducing the selling of DVD's and BD's. I missing the time where I go in a shop and looking around for hours for new movies.

For digital Files I'm using Cinematica. This tool managing all my digital movie files and I can create different collections with it, because each collection can be safed in it's own file. I can setup an autoscan for Folders, fill my own Details for each file and it will create automatically individuall Screencaps. Oh there is one more thing. Did I use a Media Server? No I don't. I often read about it and see interesting solutions for the Raspberry and Plex Kodi or Jellyfin. But with Cinematica I didn't need it. I select my movie, put in in the App "beamer" and this will stream the Movie directly to my Apple TV to my Projector. So that's it.
