I would guess that jezevex actually has one or more popup blockers because he said the popups were blocked. Oddly though, I did NOT have "many blocked pop-ups" for this. I think I had 3, when some perfectly legitimate sites give me over 100. I use both Adlock Plus and uBlock Origin in Firefox, and sometimes uBlock Origin in Chrome.

Wow. I don't have that many. I know some people use a different eMail account for every single online retailer or site that takes payments, for security purposes. Like JohnSmithAmazon@gmail and JohnSmithVerizon@gmail. That way if it gets hacked it only affects one site.

So, jez.. tell me: what age verification? I could view/download it fom Youtube without any problems.

It appears for me if I am not LOGGED IN to my google account, but only for the select few videos that are flagged as adults-only. (Which on YouTube is definitely not porn, which they do not have as far as I have ever seen.) If logged in to Gmail or any of the other online Google toys, then I am logged in to YouTube and the message does not appear. I log in to as few sites as I can and immediately log out when I am done.

What I have never figured out is how having a Gmail account is somehow proof that I am over 18. Maybe outside the U.S. in some other countries the registration and proof is stricter, so that is what jezevex meant about ID/CC. And maybe where you live, ghost, it is an internet free-for-all, with no ridiculous age restrictions?

9xbuddy did not have any objections to my VPN, so it will remain my "buddy."

My google account is OK, but if you google "Youtube Watching age-restricted videos", you can see that in the EU the proof is stricter than in the USA, for example. Never mind, if there is a way how to bypass it I could leave it alone.

That's what I was afraid of after I thought about your comments. That really sucks. I don't really care one way or another about children watching so-called "adult" YouTube videos, but I sure as hell would not want photos of my ID or CC given to Google, or any other of those evil #*(%@$!!

This surprises me, because I grew up with the idea that the United States was MORE restrictive about entertainment media than much of Europe. There was a constant moral panic over decades about how children were being corrupted (at various times) by comics, rock'n'roll, movies, rap music and finally violent video games. There was always some religious and / or parents group shedding tears about how we needed to "protect the children." This crossed party lines and appealed to both right-wingers and left-wingers. And I would look to Europe, where the same sort of material did not even raise an eyebrow. Various ratings-plans were implemented in the U.S. that could act as a guide to age-appropriate material, but many parents let their kids enjoy what they liked and the kids could find their way around the restrictions if they had to.

Fast-forward some decades to the internet era, and not many in the U.S. seem to be especially bothered by preteen kids watching hardcore bondage and bestiality porn on their computer phones, which their parents give to them and let them use all the time completely unsupervised. At most sites that restrict content by age, I simply have to declare "Yes, I am over 18" and that is good enough. No one ever lies, I guess. At worst I will have to Google-login, and I have never had to prove my age to them either. Any site that asks for my CC with the promise that they will not charge me is an obvious scam.

Googling your search term I saw many results about bypassing age restrictions, but I bet many of them no longer work because Google and the other corporations read those pages too and find ways to subvert the subversions. The one that I think MIGHT work is to create a (fake) United States Google account with a VPN if you have one, or by using the free trial period of a VPN if you don't. Last I knew, a U.S. Gmail account does not ask for proof of age ... yet. It MIGHT ask to verify the account by texting to a phone number, but there are free online sites to provide temporary fake numbers for texting, and I believe you can pick the country for your fake number.

What a pain in the ass it is to do the most basic things online!
