My favorite character Staffanie died partway through. I was hoping she'd survive and become the lead in the next one.

There seems to be a surge of horror movies with young girl main characters, or it's just a thing I never noticed before. The Black Phone and M3gan with Madeline and Violet McGraw respectively, 2022 Hatching, 2023 Knock at the Cabin, and those are just the ones I saw. I'm seeing even more as I glance at the 2022/2023 releases. Not sure if it's a trend or just a thing I never noticed.

Maybe as far as main cast goes, but little girls and horror are like peas and carrots. That's a really common cliche motif, even before movies like Shining and Exorcist.

But I love her in this movie. I think she pretty much made the film.

I agree Guava98. I was on the edge of my seat hoping she'd make it to the end because I didn't really care about much of the rest of the cast very much. I won't spoil whether she does or not, though. I love all the Evil Dead movies, honestly, but 2 will probably always be my favorite. I love the blend of physical comedy and horror in that one.

While I love Evil Dead 2, this is honestly the best mainstream horror film I've seen recently. I don't know if I want to compare them.

I appreciated the comedy shtick in Evil Dead 2 being there but still allowing the movie to be tense and uncomfortable. Most comedy horror is straight up slap-stick and misses the point. Evil Dead 2 got it right, I think.

Yup. It's just blood and guts, the whole movie is about it. (I disagree.)

You could peruse My Duck is Dead and that should give you an idea of bad exploitation.

I don't think this qualifies. This is actually a pretty good film.

Is that a bathing suit or a dress in the last picture? I thought she was covered in blood till I looked closer.

Its a scene where she puts on a bathing suit and goggles because she's afraid of water and her aunt is teasing her about it.
