"And Then Came Bumbo..." finds a wandering and barely employed doctor with a gentle bedside manner working in a circus taking care of both the human and animal talent. His duties include shoveling elephant dung. He encounters a depressed and anorexic young girl grieving over the death of her mother, and he encourages her father to take all possible measures to get her interested in life again.
