Bolero was very good. 3 that I recall - Toto the Hero (1991), Une Femme Neuve (2000 - but only exists in low quality), Lad Isbjoernene Danse - Dance of the Polar Bears (1990) is the one where the boy enters the room, rinses toothbrush in the bidet water jet, finds the girl in the bath.

I forgot- The one in Frühlingssinfonie (1983) was great, if only for a couple of seconds. La rage au coeur (1993/1994) also has a nice one(or possibly two), though it's not the reason I've been looking for it.

I think in the past, women directors are less squeamish about child-nudity in their films. However these days, at least in America, with the 'Me Too' movement

Lol... I guess that's the safest 'shower' picture that can be posted of her...

That comes from before, I don't know if it was Brooke Shields' fault or another actress, her mother took photos of her and forced her to make a more explicit movie than Pretty Baby, already with Houndog the public wanted to boycott the movie and that was before Me Too. If there are some exceptions like Angela, perhaps it is because they are independent and not Hollywood.

At first I thought of creating 'You favorite nude shower scene' but the moderators seem more like the MPA censors. In any case, showers or baths in the river are not accepted, I also left out many scenes but luckily Kev listed them all.

Probably close to 80% of the movies I've got from here or here-adjacent have female directors, honestly. Could be a slight exaggeration. Maybe one day whatever makes me obsess about random useless information will make me actually check. Lucile in particular I'm grateful for, not only is Innocence a great one but she did Le Bouche de jean-pierre aka Mimi.

Whats the deal with Shields? Everything I've personally read from Shields is she had no regrets with the films she's made but I've never dug that deep into it.

Secret garden 93 has two very brief scenes and that was a warner bros film

I'm pretty sure you're talking about Eva Ionesco and her relationship with her mother, Irina who began taking erotic photos of Eva from the time she was 5 years old.

While Teri Shields [Brooke's mom] was not the rabid stage mom that Irina was, she also pushed Brooke in directions Brooke was a little uncomfortable going. Pretty Baby was NOT one of them. From what I've heard from interviews with Brooke, she was excited to do the movie and felt that Louis Malle [the director] was NOT exploitive and looked after her while keeping her safe on set.

Irina Ionesco, however, was blatantly exploitive with her daughter, and from a young age Eva began complaining about not liking what she was doing. The movie Maladolescenza [AKA Puppy Love] (1977) came out a little before Pretty Baby (1978), and was much more explicit depicting teen [and pre-teen, since Eva was 11 and Lara Wendel was 12 during filming] sexuality.

Eva later went on to write and direct a movie loosely based on her childhood; 'My Little Princess' AKA 'I'm No Fucking Princess' (2011)'.

Both Teri and Irina have passed on, so hopefully their daughters have made peace with the past... :pray

What I find interesting, though, is based purely on public perception/outrage people would probably find My Little Princess highly controversial and exploitative if it got the same media attention Cuties had. That's why I prefer just to take the actresses' opinions at the most value, if they say they felt exploited I can respect that, and I don't personally like watching those films once I'm aware of it, even if I believe in others right to preserve that kind of art.

example from MLP:

My broad moral pov is that if women want to tell their own coming of age stories, and want them to be accurate to their experience, they have that right(and obviously if the parents consent to their kids being in the film.) If I can see the same thing your film shows on tiktok by the thousands, then it's indicative of a reality that can be explored through art. Once you're hiring 18+ women to do these films they really lose their effect. People don't even view the characters as children anymore at that point and it completely loses its sting.

(This is just MY opinion, please no one take offense, I am willing to hear other opnions respectfully and even change my mind if there is a good enough argument)

According to production sources: Initially, more skin was going to be shown on screen, Hollywood is not taking risks, unlike France or independent films that take more liberties.

Harriet spied on her, I was trying to slow down because she thought Harriet was getting out of the bathtub for seconds before the shot of her was cut.
